We are thinking about this cruise on the Statendam next Jan 2006. It just that I've never booked so far in advance....but the ship seems to be filling up. Any comments? Thanks. Gorka.

We are looking at booking the Vancouver to new Zealand cruise in Septmeber/October 2006. Some categories are already closed. We will probably book in the next couple of months, just to make sure that we get the cabin we want.

Trends have only indicated that booking earlier out is more advantageous. Waiting to book a 2006 cruise that you know fairly certain you will sail will only bring higher prices closer in, I gather . . .

We've already booked the San Fran to Auckland for Oct. 2006. The prices seemed relatively reasonable and we have the cabin we want.

If prices go down before final payment our TA will get us the reduction. But I suspect the prices will more likely go up for this attractive itinerary.

We may be premature, but we booked the cabin we wanted for the October 2006 as soon as the schedule was announced. We feel the price is reasonable, and if it does go down we will request an adjustment. We have saved thousands of dollars previously in making our deposit early, as fares have gone up substantially on other cruises.

P.S. Ted- When my kids are older, I would love to take the leg of the cruise you have booked!! It looks spectacular!!

We are also looking into sailing from Vancouver to Auckland ...and will more than likely book sooner rather than later too. It'll be our first cruise, and I'm reckoning the trip of a lifetime :) I'm UNBELIEVABLY excited...19 months seem sooooooooo far away.

** haven't been to a TA yet, but am noticing that not many online sites have info about cruises after June 2006

It is an absolutely fabulous itinerary...I wish we could be away from home that long...I am afraid that would be pushing the limits for us at present. I hope some day when the kid are older we could take a trip like that. Let us know when you book!

Is there any advantage to booking while on a cruise? It is not till Nov. of this year, but thought maybe wait till then to see if there is a credit or something that would make it more advantageous to us.

Booking on board usually gets you a shipboard credit. But if you get a $100 per person credit and the cruise price goes up $201 or more between now and Nov. you lose.

Does anyone know if the prices for Oct. - Dec. of next year are better than or equal to past prices charged at this time of year? Or is this the first time for a ship like the Statedam to cruise in that area? We are looking at this for 50th anniversary in Oct. 2006.
