I'm looking for info on what's offered on the Noordam 10 day Caribbean cruises. I've attended demonstrations in the past and enjoyed them, but this time we're cruising with my sister-in-law, who is a much more dedicated foodie.

Can anyone give me recent information on what's available? I'd love to hear details.

There are always a couple of cooking classes -- they are limited to 12 people -- cost $29 per person.

On embarkation day you can go to either the front desk or the Queen's Lounge (where the Culinary Arts Center is located) and inquire as to what is going to be made in each class. If it appeals to you -- sign up.

The cooking classes are held on sea days.

The cooking classes are a lot of fun. They are hands-on with all 12 participants preparing a meal with the chef, still usually one from the Pinnacle Grill, I believe. Normally there are several classes with different menus, so definetely check when you board and sign up immediately if you are interested. They fill up quickly. Fun for foodie and non-foodie alike.

Last month they had Food Trivia Contests about every other day on the Noordam. Hard core foodie will love these...

Excellent! We had very little of this on our Veendam repositioning and I was beginning to wonder if the classes had been dropped. I think she'll love the food trivia; I've never been brave enough to try it>

There is no charge for the kids' culinary class. It will be on the kids' daily activities schedule. Our daughter enjoyed the class on the Eurodam. I believe they made pizzas. Our teen boys (along with the rest of us) enjoyed the adult cooking class ($29). They let our 11 yo daughter participate also since we were the only ones in the time slot. My oldest is going on the next cruise with me in May and he already told me to sign him up again. You can pay for the class ahead of time for your cruise by calling Ship's Services. This will give you a voucher for the class and guarantee a spot. Then you can check the schedule for the classes once you board.
