I thought it might be useful if we could compile our resources and come up with a list of staterooms with no a/c.
I'll put mine down first, 093. I believe all the cabins on the stern, deck 10, are similarly affected.

We just booked stateroom A223 on deck 9 ("A" Category Varandah Suite)Any problems reported with that room?
Is the balcony any bigger on this corner suite or is it just as indicated on the HAL website?

If you are on the stern, it doesn't look good. It's not just the a/c either--it's the lack of ventilation. I was cool enough in Antarctica, but the room was still stuffy.

I will be on the Veendam June 5th but have 3 insides booked main deck forward. K 548, 549, and 536. If I hear of any a/c problems, or experience them myself I will report here. I may move to a balcony if I can manage an upsell. Otherwise I can't justify the extra expense as there are 9 of us. I wonder if the a/c problems always affect the same rooms?

We were in verandah stateroom 207 and both our a/c and heat worked well and quickly.

I'm actually thinking this is the cruise cabin version of "wack a mole"....they seem to fix one AC problem and in doing so cause another to pop up some place else on the ship. Not sure this isn't a bit of a waste.

Reports have been pretty consistent in regards to the stern cabins having problems.

I wonder if it is because of what they did in 2009?
"During April 2009, Veendam underwent a refit in Freeport. During the extensive refit, two decks of balcony cabins were added to the rear of the ship, and the rear pool area was restyled with a new pool fitted. Due to the change in weight, a new duck-tail stern was fitted to the ship to provide stability." (wikipedia)
