Sailing Seattle to Alaska in July and have a couple questions: :confused:
Which nights are formal?
Do they make towel animals for you every night?

Formal nights (2 on a 7-day cruise) will be, most likely, your first "at sea" day (probably the 2nd night) and the next-to-last night.
No, there are no "towel animals." Many of us do not consider this a drawback.

What is the dress code for formal night? Is a tux necessary? Gowns for the ladies?

A tux is certainly appropriate for formal night. A dark suit or a sport coat and tie also meet the minimal level of "requested" attire.
Ladies wear gowns, dressy cocktail outfits (short or long), palazzo pants and sparkly tops.
