I noticed this article in "Cruise Industry News" as well as Mexican news.

OCEAN STAR CRUISES, made up of Mexican investors recently bought from Louis Cruise

Lines, the Aquamarine (ex RCL Nordic Prince) This ship was built in 1971. Ocean Star

plans to do 3, 4, and 7 day cruises from Acapulco to various ports on the Mexican Pacific

Coast. This venture is supposed to start Apr. 11, 2011.

May I be the first to predict that this cruise line will go broke within a few years.

It will attract very few' if any Americans and Mexicans that cruise want a more modern

and safer ship. With the large cruise ships pulling out of the Mexican West Coast, where

will the passengers come from?

CCL tried almost exactly the same thing with the old Carnivale...
...it was renamed FiestaMarina and marketed towards a Hispanic market - and the venture failed miserably.

Doubt if it will take off.

They have better luck in a meterorite striking than me booking that ship! With everyhting that is going on in Acapulco currently this is doomed to fail even before it's inaugural cruise IMO!

Yep. I'm going to run right out and not book this ship! Reminds me of the small lines running Bahama cruises out of Florida. Ain't happening.:D

And what is going on in Alcapulco that is not going on in LA, Tucson, Long Beach, and schools all over America?

Actually I didn't even consider the reported violence in Acapulco in my posting though I'd have to say I don't know of too many headless bodies found in "LA, Tucson, Long Beach, and schools all over America". I have no interest in flying all the way to Acapulco and getting on some 40 year old ship for 3 to 7 day cruise and it could be sailing out of Galveston, Texas and I'd still feel that way.

Wonder if its primary appeal will be gambling and contraband cargo?

I am Canadian and use to live in LA actually during the worse possible time to have been there, O.J., Reginal Denny, the Driveby Shootings on the Freeways 405, Northridge Earthquake. I finally moved back to Canada after 5 years being there. I am currently in Buenos Aires, Argentina (15 million people).
There wasn't anything going on in L.A. (City of 14 million) remotely like what is going on in Acapulco currently with Drug Gang Violence and mass murder beheadings etc.,...nothing like that at all.
Please I see that you are from Mexico and it's not slated in anyway against you personally or the people of Mexico...no lo tomas asi pero lo siento chico...pero basta con respecto en este tema....ya esta!
