We leave in a few days on the Oosterdam. My daughter and I want to visit the spa for a massage or facial treatment. Have any of you had massage/facial treatment on the "O" ?
I'd appreciate any input/suggestions.
Thanks, Peggy

Peggy, I cannot speak for the Oosterdam because I did not go when I was on the Oosterdam but I did get a message on the Ryndam 9Which also has the Greenhouse Spa). From what I had read previously on this board I was not expecting that great of a message and was expected to get solicited for products. To my amazement I had one of the best messages I ever had and not one product was offered. I paid the extra to also use the Hydro Pool and it made for a wonderful mid morning into afternoon.:p In four weeks I definitely plan to get a message again on the Westerdam and pay the extra for the Hydro Pool.

Thanks Lisa. I think we might do the Hydro Pool too.

Also Lisa, I want to tell you how much I enjoyed the photos you took of the Oosterdam and Revneal last Saturday.
I did get down there that morning seeing my parents off on the Spirit, but my pictures couldn't compare to the wonderful shots you got! I loved the ones from Harbor Island!
I also enjoyed the aft shot of the Spirit. ( We could clearly see the aft cabin we had in November.)

Hope you enjoy your experience on the Westerdam... :)

Thanks Peggy, I enjoy taking pictures and thought those turned out pretty good. We had never been over to Harbor Island and it is really nice thru there. I would not mind staying at one of those hotels. DH is trying to come home from San Diego right now it flight keeps getting delayed because of the weather.

Also if you noticed the boards are not very active, hardly anyone is on line and mostly those of us from the West Coast. I just got an email from Heather and she wanted to know if I was having trouble getting into the boards she has not been able to get in all afternoon and evening, then I got another email from another CCer who also lives in Florida and he said his DSL has been down and can only use Dial Up. So I guess they are having problems on the East Coast too.

Lisa,

I noticed that too. I was also wondering about that. It's so ugly and wet here today. I've checked the forecast and there's not going to be much of a break in weather for several days. Hope your DH gets without any more delays.
Hopefully the East Coast crowd will be back soon. It's unusual for the Floridians to not be posting...
Think I'll check the other boards out to see what's happening there.

You know, I've been having major problems getting on to the boards...was down for almost a whole day. Kept loading a page that said "Database Error". I sent an email to the webmaster and then all of a sudden...it worked.

So, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been having these issues...but boy, made me realize how addicted to these boards I am...I felt like an arm had been cut off!

I thought it was MY computer. I starting getting the "database error" message too. Then moments ago I'm back!!!!:)

cruznon,

i had a great deep tissue massage on the O in November. I bought the package for the week for the hydropool and the heated tile chairs, (can't remember the name now.) The Hydropool was EXTREMELY cool. Although the jets are wonderful, I found it to be way too cold for me. Several people, including myself, requested an increase in the temperature, but the spa manager said it was correct. I would recommend "testing the waters" before you decide if this is where you want to spend your $.

We had the couples massage on the O in December. My husband (lucky me!!) is a licensed massage therapist who does this massage at his spa so he was curious to see how they did it. He said if this was his first massage, he'd never get another one. Perhaps it was just the therapist he had. We both got hit on for products, which I forgot to warn him about (he doesn't do that at his spa) and he didn't appreciate it. If you want to sign up for anything, go the minute the spa opens up on embarkation day. We went that day and had to stand in line for half an hour (we got spa treatments with our package which is why we had a treatment). Our ship left Sunday and the best time we could get was Thursday afternoon. Of course being a couples massage may have had something to do with that. The spa itself was very nice. As for me my massage therapist was extremely rough, I begged her to ease off a bit which she did. I didn't enjoy it that much but I'm sure my reaction was colored a bit by having my husband in there with me and wondering if he was liking it. You know how wives are! Let me just say you're getting the European version of a massage because my husband said they did things differently than the way he was taught. Not to say this is bad or better, just a different style.

Thank you Pudgesmom and Scopewest. I appreciate the information. I will check out the Hydro Pool beforehand. We may go with a facial or body treatment instead.

Peggy, I think you are more likely to be solicited for products with a facial. With a massage there was not a lot to solicit. I think as far as good massage therapists it is hit or miss anywhere. Living in Las Vegas we has numerous Spas to choose from and I have had terrible and good at expensive resorts and some great ones at less expensive Day Spas here at home. I was extremely please with the one I had on the Ryndam, definitely one of the best. The best part is she did not try to talk much. I hate that mostly because I feel obligated to talk back. I remember having one at the Paris Resort here in Vegas just after coming home from our Alaska cruise and of course they always ask if you are a visitor to Vegas. I told her I was a local she then said that she was from Sitka Alaska. I bit and opened my BIG mouth and said "Oh we were just on a cruise and went to Sitka" It was non stop talking:o I will never make that mistake again, the best massage is when no one talks, at least my opinion.

I had a pedicure on the O and a massage. The girl was very very rough with the deep tissue and I was quite sore afterwards. Of course they tried to sell products...I hate that. The pedicure was great though. The girl took her time and gave a very relaxing foot and leg massage. Well worth it. I think we were in Juneau.
