We're likely to do the unlimited laundry deal (travelling with two young kids who will trash clothes daily :) ) - Its a regular 7 day cruise. Is it possible to hand in laundry the morning of day 6 or is the last laundry day effectively day 5 morning? (i.e. cruise returns 7am Saturday morning can you hand in laundry Friday AM?)
Thanks!

I'm not positive but think your last laundry would be the evening of day 5.

They won't take it if they can't get it back before the end of your cruise.

We have never sent laundry out past the evening of next to last day. I think that is probably the deadline to be able to get it done and returned to you.

Our cabin steward told us to have our stuff out in the morning of the 2nd last day and we didn't get it back until about 7pm the last night.

It is included in the price of Deluxe Veranda and Penthouse Suites. Laundry and pressing is free Four Star Mariners.
there are laundry packages which can be purchased for 'unlimited' and 'all you can stuff into the bag' or you can pay for individual items if you don't want to send out that much.

Thanks - So sounds like the last chance for handing in laundry is on the Thursday morning (before a Saturday departure)....

On a couple of the ships that we have been on -- there was a notice that you could not send out laundry after 9 AM on the fifth day of a 7 day cruise. Also got the same notice once on a 10 day cruise -- 9 AM on day 8.

Thanks - Anyone know what day is the "first" laundry day? Is is possible to hand in laundry the afternoon of embarkation? We'll be arriving in San Diego a day prior to the cruise so with the kids we'll definitely have laundry needs by then! :)

When I was on the Zaandam a couple of weeks ago - they had a cloth laundry bag - the price was $20 for all you could stuff in it.
A suggestion - roll everything real tight and then you can put twice as much in the bag!! :):)

Thursday by 5:00 PM is the laundry deadline if you return on Saturday. Friday if your return is Sunday. Any questions, just check with your steward.

I've got a stupid question. Laundry and pressing is free for 4 stat mariners. What if you wanted to only get items pressed? Is that free, or do I need to purchase that separately?

Pressing is free for Four Star Mariners and no additional charge for PS and "S" suite guests (included in their fare).

We have always been able to purchase the laundry package on embarkation day. The start time of the package has varies from embarkation day to the morning of the 2nd full day, but usually it starts the first full day. We buy the package on cruises of 10 days or longer. For shorter cruises IMO the package isn't worth it and we do per bag for those.

We almost always have a pre cruise hotel stay before boarding so I send out laundry the evening we have boarded. Never any problem. On occasion, I have sent out a dress or DH's jacket for steaming as soon as we unpack.

That is what is listed on HAL's site.
And all too often many of us have found that things differ from ship to ship.

Things can differ on the same ship between different Hotel Managers and Captains. They each have their preferences and way of doing things. Or there could be variables on one cruise vs another about which we have no knowledge.

On the Amsterdam for our Alaska cruise we'd had a pre-cruise stay so had dirty clothes in our carry-on's. When we asked our cabin steward about giving him laundry that afternoon he said that even if he took them then, they'd still be done with the next day's laundry. So, sounds as if by 9am the 1st full day is when you can turn in your dirty laundry. You'll get them back the afternoon/evening of the 3rd full day unless you pay extra for express to get them back the following day.

Just to be clear: These prices are per suite, not per person, is that right?

Correct it is per cabin. I have heard that the customer service on the phone tell you it is per person.

Yes -- this is true on all ships.
On embarkation day there are lots of extra laundry that has to be taken care to get the ship ready.
I have actually seen people give the bags of laundry on embarkation day to their cabin steward and he just took it to his storage area -- not to the laundry room.

How do you sign up for the unlimited pressing service? Is it an option on the form you send in with your laundry?
