Can anyone tell me about the aft balcony cabins on the Zuiderdam? The deck plans almost make them look like there is no balcony - just an open deck? Do these cabins only have picture windows? I think the catagory is VA?
Thanks!

They all have balconies....trust me. I sailed in July in an aft balcony room and it was great. :)

The cabins look exactly like the side verandahs execept they are slightly narrower (less than a foot) but the cabin is deeper. (more room between the bedside tables and the loveseat and on the other end too, andon the back wall just the glass door and floor to ceiling window next to it)
The verandah has an overhang of maybe 18" and the rest is exposed. If it's raining, you won't be able to use it unless you just want to hover out there and have a smoke, but if it's nice you have lots of room to lounge and see where you have been. When the lido was packed and no lounger to be found I went down to our verandah and enjoyed the peace. Sure, there are people above, but I don't care if they see me reading or playing cribbage. I loved the aft verandah and would take it again in a minute.

We have had two wake cabins on Zuidy... a HCP 6167 Cat S and 5181 Cat A. We found the Cat A too narrow for us (had closet access problems) and the HCP bathroom in 6167 was dark and unattractive. The verandas, however, were triple the size of the side cabins, and well worth it. They have two lounge chairs, two chairs with ottomans and the Cat S also has a table and 4 chairs. I didn't even mind the looooooong walk to get places. We'll be in a side SS this time, and I'll post the photos. See other photos in my sig below.

Unless you take an aft cabin on Navigation deck (8). We had 8122 and our balcony was covered, so nobody could see us, and we still had sun, and shade. We loved it. It had 2 teak loungers, 2 wicker chair and a table. I would have this cabin again if I could. Enjoy!

Are the sizes of the cabins/balconies different in the VA aft's ?

We had a VB aft on the Z (there are only 2 on deck 4). We were in 4178 and it was not quite as deep as the VA's but was wider so the "closet access" issues were not a problem. We loved the cabin and would book it again!

I see you had 8122 - what is the size of the cabin and also the balcony? It looks like a good cabin but I wondered if it is a smaller cabin? Any other info you could provide about the cabin would be great.
Thanks,
Kathy

Hi SkyCruiser44:
8122 is a mini-suite according to our HAL cruise document. We had balcony cabin on other cruiseline and it was about the same size.
It's a good size cabin with a queen bed, and a small loveseat/couch. The bathroom is large with a bathtub. What is extraordinary about this cabin is the size of the balcony... fabulous!! If we had the opportunity we would definitely book this cabin again!
