View Full Version : Computer glitch at HAL...

Last night I pre-booked Tamarind and Pinnacle Grill reservations for March sailing on Nieuw Amsterdam.

The credit card billing posted correctly on HAL's confirmation.

I then went to "My Custom Itinerary" and discovered that two reservations for eight guests each were listed for each evening (instead of the reservation for four guests each evening that I had made).

I called Guest Services this morning, and they confirmed that they had "an IT problem" and were in the process of correcting it. The representative said their computer had had numerous instances of triple-and quadruple booking of shipboard reservations. She said it should be resolved within in a day or two. I plan to re-check the custom itinerary in a couple of days to make sure.

I'm not really too concerned about charges, because the credit card charging information they quoted was accurate.

I can see, however, how this might create havoc with the ship's reservation system if numerous reservations have been triple- or quadruple-booked.

I'll post a follow-up in a couple of days to confirm whether the numbers have been corrected.

It happens to me quite often. Whenever I book a new shore excursion, my existing reservations for the Pinnacle Grill and Tamarind go from one booking for 2 people to two bookings for 4 people!

Then within an hour, they are back to normal..... not to worry. ;)

The Ship's Services representative said basically the same thing.

It is a little strange, though.

Canadarocks, you are correct. The itinerary has already been changed to reflect the accurate number.

If I'd had to host 16 guests twice at the specialty restaurants, I guess I really would have had to go to the CC Roll Call. ;)

And if you refresh the itinerary page the bookings will double every time you refresh.

It seems like a small thing, but I bet some of these doublings have caused a few heart palpitations from time to time. ;)

Guess I have been lucky -- nothing like that has ever happened to me -- yet.

Thanks for the warning.

We once made a PG reservation for two people which was posted as two seperate charges on our credit card. When we got to the ship they only had a reservation for one person. :(

I just booked White Pass Summit Railway in Skagway (for 2 people) and in fact does duplicate our names on the customized summary sheet - From what Im reading here it should correct itself shortly and I hope Im not charged double!
