I know some people may not think so, but I think HAL Customer Service is great!! In reading CC, I found the cabin we have on NW does not have a tub. We love the tub, so I called HAL. If I could not change, I would understand(my mistake, not theirs) but thought I would ask. The ship is shown as full, but she spent 5+ minutes talking to others and came back with a cabin with a tub, still in a great location. That is what you call good customer service. I have contact Carnival before with much smaller issues and you would have thought I was asking for a free cabin. Totally impressed that she tried(and was successful) even when the ship was shown as booked funn. Thank you HAL!!

I agree with the above 100%.. Although I have not had any problems to get resolved.. I have talked to the HAL CS with questions.. They have always been very friendly and very helpful! Customer Service in any industry is difficult.. The folks at HAL have proven to me that they are experts!!

I agree. I have always found them helpful, willing to go out of their way, and prompt in their responses to my issues. :)

Could one of you explain exactly who you mean by "Customer Service"?
I can't find anything beyond "Reservations" and "Guest Relations".

Thanks!

I have noticed the last couple of years that when we had to call Ship Services -- the people working there have greatly improved with answers and how they handle things.

The best answer I can give you as to what Customer service is this: Calling the Holland America Line (HAL) Toll Free number listed on their web site. Whoever answers the telephone is their Customer Service Representative. That is my thoughts as to Customer Service.

Here is their direct link for Contacting them: http://www.hollandamerica.com/contactUs/Preface.action

The Toll Free number is: 1-877-932-4259

Now when you need to ask for a specialty department such as Shore Excursions, Ships Services you also get a Customer Service Representative in that department.

HAL has always provided us with great customer service, no matter what department we need, whether it is via telephone, intenet chat or email They are GREAT:)

I did a thread probably about two weeks ago with how impressed I was (and it does take a lot to impress me).

I might have lucked out, you might have lucked out, but I don't think so. I have found HAl's support team to be very helpful and very appreciated :):)

I Agree!..;);)

Two weeks ago, received a call from Shelby in HAL's Lost & Found Dept..They found a pair of my glasses on the Veendam last Aug..While I had her on the phone I mentioned that we had just received our Mariner Society Cruise tile & it was broken in many pieces..The Post Office really mangled it...

Yesterday Received an e-mail from a Res Agent , saying they were mailing out two new tiles from our Noordam cruise in Nov...I replied by e-mail that it was the tile from our Veendam Mariners Cruise last Aug. which arrived mangled..

Today I received my glasses in the mail plus my Pill box which I had also lost on the Veendam & never knew it..

Another e-mail arrived today from the Mariner Society, saying they have placed replacement tiles from our Mariner cruise in the mail, in addition to the ones which Res. mailed out & I could keep them..

I mentioned to them that normally we enjoy the smaller ships, but was so impressed with the wonderful Noordam service.. Agree with Joanie, It's great to know that "Customer Service" aka "Customer Satisfaction" is alive & well in HAL in Seattle in all the Departments, as well as on board their ships!:D:)

We had long time Friends, who joined us on the Noordam.. They both were in the airline business & had only cruised on RCCL & NCL..They loved the HAL Cruise & they probably will book another one in the near future..

Now have to try to convince DH into taking a Christmas Cruise on HAL!

Cheers....Betty

What a great post Betty. On behalf of all my Seattle colleagues, I can certainly say a post like this (and everyone else's great comments as well) is certainly appreciated!
