Greetings -- I am booked on a 21-day Arctic Explorer cruise in late July from HAL. Was wondering if any special cancellation requirements exist? The HAL site says to get the brochure for the specific cruise, but I never had one; booked everything via personal cruise consultant at HAL.

I have a twin brother who lived with me for the last 25 years but had to go into a nursing home. On last Oct. 10 he was found "unresponsive" at the place but by the time he arrived in the hospital, things were much worse. He is basically as of today largely unresponsive except for brief fleeting periods od recognition. He is at a new nursing home, with a PEG, trach, intubation, etc. and a $440/ day tab and the doctors there tell me theer is next to a nil chance that he will get better. My sister already cancelled out a Princess cruise because of this.

I am his Health Proxy as well as Power of Attorney, and I am just trying to be aware of my cancellatuion options. I am not going to leave him while he is in this state.

So very sorry to hear about your brother. How painful this all has to be for you and yours.

If you dealt with a PCC for booking, (s)he would be a good contact point to get the brochure you seek and to assist with all your questions.

Best wishes.

Thank you. Yes, it is very hard for me; I am single, and he is my twin. There is some indication that my brother was in an unresponsive state for at least four hours before the nursing home ever called the EMTs. And when he got to the hospital, he was vomiting blood, blood pressure was only 57 over 39, had aspiration pneumonia and was in renal failure and septic shock. The neuros tell me that it is highly likely that he had an encephalopathy (brain damage) due to the low blood pressure and resultant lack of oxygen saturation in the brain.

Medically there is nothing they can do for him; he is in "comfort care", but I am a person of faith and am praying for a religious miracle.

So sorry to hear about your brother. Thoughts and prayers are of course extended.

Best thing to do is reference the E-Brochure. It's a Europe sailing so reference the Europe 2011 brochure. The pages following the Deck Plans (last 10-15 or so) will have the info you need.
