Does this sound reasonable for the entrance fees while doing a tour in Dominica? I have not heard anyone state that they had to pay these entrance fees on top of the fee per person for the tour.
I can arrange a Tour just for your Family as requested to the Trafalgar Falls,Ti Tou Gorge,I could also add to this Tour an opportunity to enjoy a Stop at the piturest Fresh water lake more for photos, all of these are withing the rain forest,if you are willing to hike through to the mountains for a 45 minute hike one way to the middle ham falls this could replace the fresh water lake. This Tour is estimated to run for 4-5 hours and will be done as a private Tour for just the 4 of you and will cost US$250.plus site pass fees of US45.pp at either falls and the fresh water later.

Last month, 6 of us did a private tour for $67pp that included Ti Tou Gorge, Soufriere Sulfer Springs, and Champagne Reef. We didn't pay any extra fees. Here is the most official list of fees I could find:

If I'm understanding the email correctly, it looks like too much in fees to me!

We did Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls and Hot springs for $40 pp and included refreshments. We went with Bumpiing Tours. He has other tours including Middleham Falls. Excellent guide. Lots of reviews on this site. You can email him with questions and he answers promply. He has a website.

Short answer... NOPE, it's not reasonable.
We just returned from our cruise (2/20/11) and had our best day ever in the Caribbean while in Dominica. A friend recommended a local tour guide named Sea Cat to us. There isn't a lot about him on the internet. I contacted him a month or so before our cruise and made arrangements with him. He is a little slow responding to emails but does what he says and more.
Let me say that he was awesome, the tour was awesome and the rum punch wasn't bad either. There were six of us, average age late 40's and all in pretty good shape. We met Sea Cat, his name is actually Octavius Lugay, at 9:30 and we returned around 5:00pm. We went to all the popular spots while avoiding the big crowds from the cruise ships. We did Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls, Champange Reef, Emerald Pool, Hot Springs and made several stops along the road. What a blast! You can reach him at seacat55@hotmail.com.
Tell him Happy Birthday and that Dave referred you to him. I guarantee you a fun time. $250 should cover everything you want to do.

After reading your post, my husband and I booked with Octavius in April 2011. This tour was everything that the previous post stated and more. Our tour began about 8:30 and ended about 3:15. Sea Cat is not only a friendly, out-going person, but is very knowledgeable about this island, especially all of plants and wildlife. Several other couples we were traveling with did other tours, but we definitely had the best time. We enjoyed every minute and would highly recommend his tour.
