Hi there, my wife and I and our two kids ages 3 and 5 are looking to spend an afternoon at a nice beach in Bonaire. I would like to take them to Klein Bonaire but since there are little to no facilities, shade or services there, would be better off going to a resort such as the Plaza Resort? Or perhaps any other resorts with a nice beach and calm water?

We went to Klein Bonaire and it didn't seem like a place for little kids. There is a small place where the boats come in that is sandy but mostly it's surrounded by rocks and reef. The wind comes up in the afternoon, making the water rough and choppy. The best thing about Klein Bonaire is the snorkeling but that also makes it unfriendly for kids.
Sorry, I don't have any advice for a nice resort type beach for kids.

Definately the Plaza Resort. For $10, you get transfers from the ship & back plus use of loungers & swimming pool. They have a stand, to the right, as you leave the port area.

Plaza Resort. DH was taking scuba lessons back in 2002 and I would hang out and wait for him. Not many shady areas but that may have changed. There was a nice restaurant and clean bathrooms. There used to be a pack of iguanas that hung out at the rocks near the hotel check-in area which I enjoyed taking pictures of but some people got freaked out.
Two years ago, I tried out the Divi during a cruise port stop as it was closer to town but the beach area was smaller than the Plaza Resort's.

Klein Bonaire is gorgeous for snorkeling, but I would not want to spend the day with little kids there-there are no facilities, chairs, snack bar, bathrooms, etc. I would not recommend it!
