Sailing into Grand Cayman on March 1 and need any help. I've read where because of hurricane their is still a lot of damage. Would like to do a bit of sightseeing with either scooter or rental car, please advise which would be better. Also what to go see and if a beach area is available for a minimal fee.
Thanks for any help.

We were in Grand Cayman in January, booked a tour on the internet with nativeway to swim with the stingrays. Great tour would really recommend this very inexpensive.

There is 7 mile beach saw quite a few people just enjoying the beach, also saw some on scooters, don't know where they rented them but I'm sure there readily available in town.

WE rented a car in GC a few years ago and drove out to the Queen Elizabeth Botanical Gardens (http://www.botanic-park.ky/). We didn't reserve a car, but saw a local rental agency while stopped at the Tortuga Rum Cake store about a half-mile walk from the dock where the tenders put in. We also drove out along 7-mile beach and visited Hell (to send postcards).

We were in Grand Cayman just this past January.

Seven mile beach still has a lot of destruction on it. Many of the hotels were to re-open in June and now some say that they will not open until July or August. Some of the beaches are open.

Stingray City - a must to see - we really enjoyed it.

Hell and the turtle farm are open - have been to both and loved them.

The Tortuga Rum Stores and Factory are both open. The factory is to the right as you get off the tenders - a walk down the road past the new Bayshore Mall - a couple of lovely stores are already open. We did our shopping at Kirk's - they have a couple of other smaller stores right by the tender pier - but this their best store.

Paradise Restaurant is right on the beach - just up the road from Bayshore Mall and Tortuga Rum Factory - great place to eat. A lot of people snorkle here.

Don't go to Grand Caymen without doing Sting-Ray City.

Couldn't agree more that Stingray City is a blast. Be sure and take an underwater camera so you can get them up close! Many of the SC tours will also take you for a couple of hours of snorkeling, too.

Don't rent a car - the island is too small. Scooters are fine and you could cruise the whole circle of the island in a couple of hours.

Native Way - all the way! :D We have toured with them twice now. Eldon and Sharon Ebanks are the owners. Here is their website:

Thanks to all with the great advice. We are thinking about the sting ray trip. Could anyone tell me how much scooters rent for and is it worth it being such damage to the island?
