Hi everyone. I am a new member of this board and will be on my first cruise leaving Ft Lauderdale April 17/2011. This cruise goes down the east coast then through the Panama arriving in Lima Peru. We are booked for one shore excursion in Peru to the famous ruins there. Other than that, nothing has been arranged.

Have any of you done this cruise? what advise do you have for shore excursions. on the way down and on the way back.

I am going to assume that this cruise is done on a reguar basis and many of you nice folks will know of the various ports of call, there are too many to list here.

Thanks for any emails. Welshone

Welcome to Cruise Critic. :)

I suggest that you join your very active Roll Call here:

There you can find out others are planning. I noticed that one poster said they did the trip before.

Sorry, but I haven't visited any of your ports of call:
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US; Santa Marta, Colombia; San Blas Islands, Panama; Enter Panama Canal Cristobal; Exit Panama Canal Balboa; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Corinto, Nicaragua; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Manta, Ecuador; Callao (Lima), Peru

After checking, I found that we did stop at Puntarenas, and did the HAL "Pictuesque Sarchi" excursion. It was an interesting town with a church with metal exterior walls, but most of the off-bus time was spent at a place where they make and paint ox carts. The scenery from the bus window was okay, but mostly it was a long ride for not much. ;)
