I'm so excited because we're going on the O'dam for Thanksgiving. I'm so tempted to upgrade from an aft VA to an aft S (if any are still available). The TA we're booked with has offered us a rate that is $200/pp higher than one found at another agency. My current TA will not match the lower price.
So, I hate to do this but I may just cancel my booking with TA #1 and switch to new booking with TA #2. I would be saving $400 off an S price...and could save $200 total off our current VA.
What would you do? We don't have any ties to either agency...I just don't want to be doing something that's not "right". I mean is it...once you're booked, you're booked? Or is it Keep looking for the best deal?
HELP!

If your current TA can't meet the price, then switch. But...
Be sure the 2nd TA's quote includes all charges. If so, reserve that cabin (and get the confirmation) before giving up the first one. Better safe then sorry.

I've got to show this answer to DW. She calls me something like "asset", but without so many letters!

Dave has it right. Don't make a mistake and find yourself with no booking at all! Otherwise, if there are no other considerations, it's just a matter of good business.
Have fun. The Oosterdam is a wonderful ship.

So, let me see if this is right. I can have 2 bookings at the same time? And the cruiseline doesn't care?
Cool!

Nope, there's no limit to the number of cabins you can book. Don't go crazy, now! :)

I would just reiterate to be sure that the cheaper price quote includes all taxes and port charges. Many agencies don't quote these up front. Only when you get the confirmation printout do these charges show up.

I think you should upgrade no matter who it is done through.:D

I have been in both and strongly recommend you upgrade to the S suite (only not the HCP like 6167). Other posters have given excellent advise about quoting FULL PRICE, but also make sure TA #1 doesn't have those mandatory $150 cancellation fees.
Candy <-- would prefer a deck 5 corner (see photos in my sig below)

Thanks for the advice all!
I went and took a good look at both agencies and the cheaper TA was only about $60 less once you figured in taxes and such...so we're going to stay w/ current.
Candy & Sea Island Lady:
My post may not have been super clear on pricing. To upgrade to an S would be almost another $1,000 for the trip. In your opinions...is the S really worth that much?
I've been in an S on the Zaandam...but that was before Neptune Lounge, SOE upgrades, etc.
I've got those two guys sitting on my shoulders telling me what to do. YOu know who I mean...the one on the right shoulder saying "Save the Money" and the one on the left saying "Go for it...you deserve it AND it's a holiday!"
I'm so easily swayed to the person on my right...but I think I can be convinced to the left...
 Can you see why I'm going crazy!
Thanks for helping!

If you can afford it, go for the "S". Not only will you have a bigger room and balcony, but you also have many more amenities.

NOW I know where all those cabins went !!!

But seriously though, when considering switching agents for a booked cruise, please be sensitive if the original agent has invested a lot of time and effort to help you find that cruise and get it set up in the first place.
If that were the case it wouldn't really be fair to yank the booking just to save a small amount.
