Hi,

A group of 13 of us are going on the Westerdam to celebrate a 50th anniversary. I am very interested in the cabana's but have a couple questions. The ages of everyone range from 4 - 74. There will be four children, six adults and 3 seniors. I would like to get one cabana so we can all be together. Several of the people in this group will want to explore and make use of the islands activities. But I think a couple people would enjoy the cabana. Can we fit 13 in it or do we have to get two? Are they really strict on the payment, even for those in the party that won't use the cabana except to lay out front on the beach so we can all be together? Thanks for any suggestions/comments.

I don't think you can get 13 people in a cabana at one time, not enough room. We had 8, paid for 4, the rest were teens who only went into the cabana to get something. They just wanted to be on the beach near us (too cool to be too near).

If memory serves me correctly - and so often it doesn't! - the cabana has a table with four chairs, and two lounge chairs. Extra people can sit on the steps or in lounge chairs around the cabana. If you pay for four people - the standard - you get "stuff" for four people - although the snacks are very generous and there is lots of ice in the ice chest.

Our next cruise will be 9 family members - all of us in the senior citizen age group - but at least one member will bring a fishing rod and not spend time in the cabana - several of us like to swim and will do so - thus I anticipate that the one cabana will serve us all well using it sequentially.

The cost of the cabana is for 4 persons. There is a charge for any extra guests but I don't know how they know or figure out how many extra guests you have. ;)

From HAL's webs site:

Extra Person Surcharge for Private Cabana Package

DURATION: Varies
PRICE: $45 Adult $45 Child

The Private Cabana Package price is applicable for up to 4 guests. Additional guests in a Private Cabana must each book an "Extra Person Surcharge for Private Cabana Package" tour. There is no charge for children 2 and under.

Thanks for the update - the last time I had read anything about the surcharge for extra persons using the cabana it was $25 per person.

Wonder why there is such a large increase?
