Does anyone have any experience with 18-20 age group on Holland? Have been on other lines where the cruise staff will organize meet and greets or other get togethers for young adults. Nothing major, maybe one event each day. We are sailing for spring break. Does HAL do this? If not, could one request this of the CD?

I've only been on one HAL cruise (Carribean last Feb), and I don't remember 'organized' activities for 18-20 somethings. But you shouldn't have trouble hooking up on your own - hang out by the pools, one of the bars, or the lido buffet and you'll get a group together in no time.

When you get on board, talk to the CD about setting up a M&G for the 18 – 20 year olds. I believe that the CD can put the time and place in the Daily Program.
We were on Princess last year and we requested a M&G for the 18 – 20s. It was not well attended. My son said that he met way more people just hanging out at the pool, etc.

Our daughters went to some kind of college student meeting early on during our cruise on the Veendam. They met a group of people that kept growing over the length of the cruise. They kind of organized their own activities and meets and had a great time as a group. They did comment that there could have been more activities geared towards their age group, but overall they were not complaining and had a good time.

We were with our children, 22 and 29 on a Christmas Cruise.
The 22 year old son met some great young people through events such as Music Trivia at the Aft Pool, late night events in the Crow's Nest, a pub crawl which was also late night. I assume the later was meant for over 21 there was a charge which included drinks. He had a great time - don't think it was the drinks as much as connecting with some great kids from around the world, different colleges etc. (we met some of them at Trivia one day).
Our daughter prefers to keep to herself, even though there were meet and greets for 20 to 30 year olds.
At Spring Break, I imagine there will be some organized events, but the idea of bringing it to the attention of the CD is a good one.
I don't know how these things get organized, but imagine the CD knows the make-up of the cruisers and tries to accommodate them, especially if the first event is well attended.

That's good to know as we're looking at a June cruise to Bermuda with our 21 yr old daughter.

Thanks-

We have taken an au pair on our last several cruises, and they tend to fall into that 18-20 year-old group. There has never been anything specifically set up, and I don't think there's even been more than a tiny handful of passengers in that age bracket anyway.

That being said, our au pairs have always become friends with various members of the staff and crew who are often in their 20s. One of our au pairs, after finishing up her year with us, even became a staff member on a cruise ship and is still happily doing that four years later!

Thank you for sharing this charming story with us.

On many cruise lines the 18 - 20 year olds are a "forgotten" age group. The suggestions here are very good. I hope they enjoy the cruise. When my daughter was that age, she liked hanging out with us. She likes to participate in karaoke so we would go with her. Sometimes she meets others there.
