So, I already have a nickname for the ship and have yet to board her.:D
I have limited choice in flights. I have read some of the newbie formums, but would prefer the advice of a seasoned FLL or Zuiderhosenc cruise.
I assume that barring a very late arrival back in Ft Lauderdale (Port Everglades, correct), that it will not be an issue for us to make it to the airport by 12:00pm-12:30pm for a 1:55pm flight.
The airport is only a few minutes away correct?
Thanks again, I will really try to avoid boring you all in the future.
Cheerio!

You should have plenty of time with that flight. I have a flight home at 11:25 a.m., hoping I have enough time for that one.
You are correct, the airport is very close, maybe a 5 minute ride or so.
Have a great cruise.

A 1:55 flight is no problem. You will probably be sitting at the gate by 11 AM.
I have been to a lot of airports, and I can say without question that FLL Airport has the worst food I have ever encountered anywhere, including school cafeterias. I would kill for a fast food restaurant in FLL airport and I have not eaten at one in years. hoice of bad pizza and pre-made sandwiches. There is a restaurant (Chillie's type) before you pass thru security but the lines usually wind around the airport.

THANKS!

btw - The name of the ship is the Zuiderdam... it should be in your cruise docs, but if you use the wrong ship name with a cab driver, who knows where you will end up.

Breakfast will be available early on the Zuiderdam. Knowing that passengers will be able to leave the ship once all the luggage is in the terminal and the ship has been cleared - both immigration and people who need to declare extra spending with customs, breakast will be served in the Lido and the dining room early. Check your final disembarkation papers for the times.
A 1:55 flight - you will have plenty of time to leave the ship, get your luggage, go through immigration, hand your customs form in, get a taxi, head to airport check in your luggage, go through security and have a nice lunch.

Silly me I keep confusing the ship with the latest Bavarian fashion trend.
I know the name of the ship, but Zuiderhosen's gonna slip out of my mouth at least one night out of the seven. Lets hope its not at the Captain's table.

OK - I'll bite...
"Are you glad to see me or is that just a cruise ship in your pants?"

Har har, you can only hope to be so lucky! Those invites are hard to come by... but I wish you success in getting one! Just don't ask - that is a sure fire way to be, as the kids say - "denied!" :D
Just kidding, I hope you get one - it would be really nice for your parents, imo.

I new you'd bite, Bri, good one, its not a cruise ship but it is "awefully" large.:D
I'll let me old father work on the Captain. All he needs is a breif introduction and he'll do great, he tends to hypmotize people, as one comedian used to say. Ex-clergy tends to get him places you would never imagine him to end up.
I'd just have to be downright lucky, but really meant it as a joke. Its not something that I am really looking to make happen, but we'll see what old dad can do.

I had an 11:55 a.m. return flight on my Princess cruise last month. No problems whatsoever. In fact, I had plenty of time to enjoy a couple of smokes outside once I had checked in for my flight and dropped off my luggage, and then still sat around for close to an hour waiting to board. If I hadn't been so full from breakfast on the boat, I could have easily enjoyed a nice leisurely lunch before boarding.
Barring any unforeseen disembarkation problems, you should be more than fine with a 1:55 flight.
Yes, the cruise terminal and airport are a mere five minutes away by taxi.
Blue skies and enjoy your cruise!
