We have sailed twice with Princess, but have decided to try HAL next January. We have tons of questions and will be doing on-going 'searches' on the critic. One thing comes to mind though. On Princess there seems to be something going on all the time, i.e. trivia in the various bars, bingo, live music, and other games throughout the day/night.

How would this compare with HAL and is there anywhere on this site that one could download a copy of HAL's daily newspaper (I think it's called the Explorer)? Specifically on the Oosterdam or Eurodam.

Thanks and be prepared for dozens of other questions between now and next January :D (this site has been invaluable to us in the past)

I'm guessing they don't put them on any website because they change every day and I'm sure it's different for every ship. There always seemed to be a choice of 2 or 3 different things going on every hour on our last cruise ... bingo, trivia, cooking demos, different kinds of music at the different bars, etc.

explorer is the new name for the daily program

we have always found lots to do on the ships

some people quite some time ago posted a few daily programs

but they change -- depends on the cd, etc.

There is usually one main Trivia during the day. But at night, sometimes conflicting with our dinner schedule there is trivia in some of the bars - usually about music, but sometimes general trivia, or chocolate trivia, or drinks trivia. Enjoy!

What is a good comparison here? Are programs really that different between ships or is it more a function of the itinerary, length, and number of sea days. I can imagine things being very different between one cruise and another on the same ship.

The Explorer paper is great-helps you figure out what you want to do all day..or just hang out if you want.

On our HAL cruise a few years ago, my parents and I went to the trivia contest every day(and won!).
