I am curious about the plan of this suite which is on the RSSC site ... and would appreciate someone who has stayed in a SS Aft suite answering these two questions if possible as we have just moved to this suite from a PH suite for our March 2012 cruise...
From the plan it looks as though there are two bathrooms - a sort of loo, or what Americans call "Powder Room" and the normal bathroom with washbasin, bath and WC. Is this correct??
And on the veranda -- are there chaise longues or just normal chairs?? Given the size of the veranda I would imagine the former, but who knows??

Have not had the pleasure of staying in one, but have been through them. Yes, they do have an extra half bath with sink and toilet, as you said a "Powder room". When I saw those suites there were lounge chairs, but I haven't seen one recently, so I am not certain of that at this point. The veranda is quite deep and doesn't quite wrap the corner, but you can see off the corner. I think it is also partially covered from the suites above if I remember correctly.
Would love one of those someday, I also love the Horizon suites which are in between the two SS aft corner suites.
Enjoy.

Wow!
Never been in a SS Aft suite, but I was looking at them and others only an hour or so ago wondering if we could perhaps stretch to an Horizon View for our next Mariner cruise. The SS Aft are describes as 1.5 bathrooms, so I guess your presumption is correct. The pictures I have seen show 2 chaise longue. However someone who has experienced travel in one will confirm or otherwise.

We had one of those for Alaska, on Mariner's first trip there. It was absolute heaven! The suite itself is wonderful (yes there are 1 1/2 bathrooms) with the bedroom off a hallway behind the living/dining room. When we were on it, we had two chaises, and we stayed out there a LOT. If they aren't out there when you get on, ask your butler to get you some.
We were set to have the same one on a later cruise, but got upgraded. We loved the upgrade, but missed the huge balcony (although it was really hot for most of that cruise).

Many thanks for the answers! And Orpington T - yes, it is a WOW! Next year I have a "round" birthday... you know which one! So this is a celebration present from Ken!!
I think we will enjoy this suite.

Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy some more. I would love to book that suite some day if it wouldn't give my accountant a heart attack. I once enjoyed the largest suite (the size of a large apartment) on another line and I have never forgotten it. It elevates cruising to a much different level. Have fun.

I am sure you will. I was looking because not only is my 85th bithday on Christmas Day this year, but also it is our 65th Wedding anniversary on September 1st this year. Those anniversary days deserve something special. We would've got less of a sentence for mass murder!

We have used SS suites on the Mariner twice...They are comfortable and the Veranda is huge. Our veranda had a table+4 chairs, 4 more chairs with ottomans, 2 lounge chairs plus table.....There was too much furniture....

Orpington - Congratulations. I hope I can still travel at 85. Being married for 65 years is no mean feat. I was married at 20 too but we only made it to 48 years. Happy travelling. I hope we meet one day.

Tom - why don't you and Barbara join us on the trans-Atlantic next year!! Then we can all celebrate together!! The lectures on those cruises are usually really interesting and the sea days are great!

Thanks, but you must remember I was born on Christmas Day (though not in a stable and I can't walk on water, hence the cruising!)

I didn't realise you were talking in your OP about the 2012 March TA crossing. In fact, we have been looking at this year's November crossing and also the one you are on, both on Mariner. As we never know what tomorrow will bring, let alone next year, we may opt for this year's westbound. However we have our Seabourn trip (Southampton to Rome) in 8 weeks time so we will probably leave the decision until after that. The eastbound next March with you and Ken sounds very appealing though.

Orpington - I was born three days later so perhaps it will work for me too. I like your sense of humour.

Threechicks - you would like both Orpington T and "his Missus" if you ever got a chance to meet them!!
T - you've done the November crossing... make it the spring one for 2012!! That would be really super!!

My wife and I had a ss aft suite on the Voyager on a western med cruise a number of years ago. There was no powder room or second bathroom on the Voyager, but the size of the one bathroom was larger and with the overall size of the suite we were very comfortable and enjoyed it more than any of our prior or subsequent accommodations. The views with all the windows curving around the rear of the ship was wonderful. We had both lounges and chairs on our balcony with room to spare - it was very roomy.

Even the pot containing the Kid's Inheritance is not bottomless.
Nevertheless, we would like to do both. If only one, our choice may have to be the 2011 westbound for obvious reaons (we don't know what the future may hold) After that who knows? Unfortunately, here in the UK we forfeit our deposit of 20% if we book and change our minds

We've just returned from our 12th sailing with Regent and our 7th in Suite 988. There are, and have been, a love seat, 3 chairs, two tables and a dual chaise lounge on every cruise. Great for sailaways. Inside there are two t.v.'s, a living room with table seating for 4 however additional chairs can be brought in to accomodate 6. The powder room is as described. The master bathroom, as we were informed last week, will be converted to a separate bath and separate shower eliminating the need to make the journey over and in to the tub for a shower:D

Hi Mamaquack! (great name by the way!!)
Tell me more about the conversion of the bath room - I assumethis will be done during the pre-17 april 2011 drydock? Can you send me what you were sent?
I ask because I hate (underlined!) showers and love baths and do not want to cruise for 2 weeks or more in a suite with no bath!!
If you feel you can post this - great. If not my e mail is Thompson@verbier.ch
Many thanks! And we will raise a glass to you on our first night in "your" suite!!
