Considering a cabin on the Neiuw Amsterdam either on the Rotterdam deck or the Upper Verandah deck. If on the Upper Verandah deck we will be over the Promanade deck. We would have to look over and down at any runners/walkers. Can you hear people talking/running/walking in your cabin? Should we just do Rotterdam deck a few up?
Thanks!

one is not supposed to run on that deck....so unless there's a huge group (like the 'on deck for the cure') I doubt there would be much noise while at sea. Chatter and footsteps would be 'swept away' by the sea/wind/ship noise. I've never had a problem below the Prom deck...but I might be concerned about a cabin on that deck.

I was under the impression that you could run on the Promenade Deck of any ship that does not have cabins directly below that deck. The noised will not interfere with any passengers in their cabins.
Please correct this if I am wrong.

you can only run on the promenade decks of the vista and signature class ships as there is no dedicated track on those ships -- and yes we have seen runners on those ships on that deck

We had an Upper Prom cabin on the Noordam, and never heard people on the Promenade while on our balcony.

Jogging is permitted on Promendade on Vista and Signature Class ships though not on other classes of ships.

To answer your questions...
No - for all.
If you have a verandah cabin you can not see the people on the deck below - also you might be able to hear them while outside but they'd have to be pretty darn loud for you to hear them over sound of the ship cutting through the water and I highly doubt you'd hear anyone in your cabin from the open deck below.

I've been awakened at night by person or persons jogging on the prom deck on R class ships. It can be very noisy and extremely aggravating. Over it has to be better than under it.

Noticed the No Jogging signs on Deck Three of the Nieuw Amsterdam. Most people seem to be obeying the rules.

We had a Verandah Suite on the Maasdam in January but are "scaling back" next January, and I've booked an outside on the Lower Promenade deck. I know you have done a lot of cruises...so you're a good one to ask...do you think it'll be noisy?
We had 220 on the Maasdam and the noise from the Stewards workroom across the hall nor the deck stewards scraping the deck chairs above us early in the AM bothered us...so I suspect we'll be OK.
