Cruising on the Zaandam 2/26...first timers with a bunch of questions.........

1. Besides the main dining room I'm pretty sure I read that there are two alternative dining rooms - the Pinnacle and Marco Polo. Do they both require the $20 surcharge? Where and when do you make reservations?
2. Are the menus for these restaurants posted anywhere?
3. Can you pack drinks and bring them on board? Soft drinks? Alcoholic beverages?
4. Advice on the soft drink card? I'm reading varying reviews. If we don't get a card - how much is a coke??!!

Sorry for all the questions...and thanks in advance for any tips!
P.S. Anyone else on the 2/26 Zaandam cruise?

The Old Marco Polo is now the Pinnacle. Their menu should be in your state room. They have a display up in the Lido at Lunch and the menu is posted outside the Pinnacle every day. On the Zaandam it is located just down from the Wajyang Theatre.

I'll try to answer what I can.

1. Only 1 alternate restaurant called Pinnacle (formerly known as Marco Polo). Cost $20.00 pp (plus tip), w/special lst night @10.00. Advance call Special Services 1-800-541-1576, will be charged direct to any major credit card. Or can make reservations once on board.

2. Menus not posted on web sites. However, has best steaks around. Others may have more details. Most very pleased.

3. May bring any soft drinks, reasonable amout of wine/champagne. No beer or hard stuff. You can order that from Special services to be delivered to your cabin. They can give costs and availability.

4. Canned soft drinks $1.75, plus 15 percent tip, which also applies to all lounges. Soda card is for fountain stuff only. Not sure what cost is now (have seen various pricings), but if you calll Special Services they will give you that info....

Been on the Zaandam last year, and very pleasant cruise. Most reviews very positive....Hope this helps and happy cruising.....

Have been on the Zaandam several times.

She came out of dry dock on January 29th.

The Pinnacle Grill (Marco Polo) is well worth the $20 per person. We have eaten at the Pinnacle many times on many ships and love it. They also have great lamb chops, huge baked potatoes, Dungeness crab cakes, Northwest clam chowder, chocolate volcano cake, just to name a few of the items.

Krazy Kruizers,
We have cruised Holland 4 times now but have not eaten in the Pinnacle. We will the first nite on The Oosterdam coming up in April. Can you order more than one appetizer/entree/dessert like in the regular dining room?
Thanks

No. Nor would you want to, nor need to. You will not go away hungry.....

Well, you are free to order another entree at the Pinnacle. You just have to pay for it, like at any other restaurant. The Pinnacle is not another all-you-can-eat Golden Corral. It is a fine dining alternative restaurant. And the price is well below the quality of the food you eat there, so it is a bargain. ;)

WHATEVER! So sorry I did not realize I would upset people so much as to insult me over that question. But, that does seem to be the way of many on this board.

As for entree's, I don't know if you can order more then one, but you can order more then appetizer and side dish at NO extra cost. My husband and father did (infact my father ordered three side dishes--doesn't he sound like a pig!!!!) No worries about lots of questions, we got lucky and my sister works on board... You should have seen the emails to her with every question imaginable!!!!!!!!!!! Questions are a great way to find out information. By the way, the Pinnacle staff will walk you through everything and answer any questions... THey are great! By the way, I recommend trying the steaks. The filet is AWESOME. I have heard mixed reviews about the other dishes, but each time I have been, the filet called my name.... Have a great cruise!
