We just got home very late last night from our Feb. 25 cruise aboard the Westerdam. I am only writing about the M&G. I hosted the M&G for about 18-20 pax on our rollcall. I was late reserving a place to have it so I had it on our wrap around deck. I went to the NL right after boarding and asked our Concerige what she could do for me. We talked and talked and she came through big time. We had fruit plates, several, shrimp cocktails, warm hordourves (sp.?), plenty of glasses of ice tea, etc. I can't remember what else. I had brought candy. Our Concerige was Shirley and she was top notch. Eyse (Ice) worked with her and she also was great. I couldn't have asked for more for a last minute request. This was my first M&G hosting and I was more than nervous. We had a great group and I enjoyed meeting all of them.:)

Love the Westerdam!
We had a wonderful concierge there back in January - Ivy. She helped my kids arrange a birthday celebration for me in the MDR, plus she sent a plate of chocolates to my cabin to mark the special day.

Welcome home. I'm so glad the M&G went well, a great concierge can make all the difference! Did you enjoy the cabin, and was the rest of the cruise wonderful? Inquiring minds want to know:p

Glad the Neptune came through so nicely for you - they are definitely amazing in there!

We like to host gatherings in our suites (though not M&Gs), and have always been more than pleased with what the concierges manage to come up with.

I know they rotate them but anybody have an idea who might be the concierge on the Maasdam? It's an S class ship so there'll only be one on duty at a time, plus whoever they have as relief, but I was wondering if there's one that sticks out in recent cruisers' minds. I know she doesn't work for HAL anymore but we could only hope to have somebody as good as our all time favorite Regina of Reggie and Regina fame on the Volendam. :)

... Welcome home!!

We willbe hosting a Sail Away party for our Roll Call in our Aft Wrap around. I will head directly to the Neptune Lounge to arrange the Apps and other goodies for it. Thank you so much for the heads up on what to do.

Now, to wait for your review and photos:)

Loved Regina! Best we ever had. Has she retired and is staying home with the baby or has she changed cruiselines?

Last I heard Regina had quit HAL at the end of her contract awhile back and was staying home and taking care of her and Reggie's children. Anything can change and maybe she's back but not that I know of. In fact, I'm sure I heard Reggie was going to finish up his contract and not come back so maybe neither of them is on HAL or any other cruise line right now. Staff wise nothing would make me happier than to walk on the Maasdam and see either Regina or Reggie or, best of all, both of them! :D

Just to report back that Rei was indeed a good concierge. We typically don't ask the NL concierge to do much for us and this cruise was no different but when we had a question or needed anything Rei was very good about making it happen. Due to a set of circumstances in Ft Lauderdale on our boarding morning Mrs. K and I actually got up and to the ship very early, probably in the first 50 or so people to board at 11:30 AM. Our cabin was ready but one thing I noticed was that the flowers I'd ordered for Mrs. K were not in the cabin. Initially wrote that off as we were way earlier than we typically are so no big deal. About 4:15 PM still no flowers which is way later than they typically arrive so I went to Rei and asked him if I should be concerned. He looked up our account and saw that the flowers had been ordered so he said he'd look into it. Flowers were delivered in the next 30 or so minutes as we'd gone off to the boat drill and they were in the cabin when we returned. :)

PS - He said to say "Hi" to you.

Question from a novice booked in a deluxe suite on the Zuiderdam: all these great extras the concierge came up with: did they charge extra for those, or is that the benefit of being booked in a Suite and have access to the Neptune lounge and concierge?

there is no extra charge for the appetizers, etc that the concierges can set up for the Deluxe suites -- you just need to get your order in before noon so that they can make all the arrangements

Our concierge told us they are limited to hors d'oeuvres for four for each suite.
Since there were two suites booked among our party of 9, we could get hors d'oeuvres for 8 delivered to one of the suites.

That was more than enough for us!

But I am surprised they were able to come up with all that stuff for a M&G.
