Ok don't boo me off but has anyone worked up any calorie counts for the breakfasts? I plan to do so for the posted breakfast menu We want to enjoy but not gain our usual 8 lbs!
Anyone have the lunch and or dinner menus?
Thanks

A good reference is a pocket sized book written by dietitian Allan Borushek called "The calorie king calorie, fat and carbohydrate counter". It is 300 pages of fine print, and you are able to figure out values for just about anything.

have never bothered to do calorie counts
lunch menus for the dining room vary by ship and change quite a bit
i posted some tome ago the menus for ryndam dinners -- both itineraries -- some of them are on all ships -- again can vary and they may have changed the last couple of months
then there is the lido buffet for all meals
good luck in trying to figure out all those calories with so many items

We try not to worry about the calories - we take the stairs and do a lot of walking around the ship. Since we bypassed the elevators a few years ago, we haven't gained any weight on our cruises. :)
I prefer to enjoy the food and add a bit of exercise to make up for it. ;)

For someone who is generally well versed in calorie counts, they probably can make a decent 'guesstimate' as to how much calories in many standard foods. You know how many calories in a plain two egg omelete, can estimate for the veggies you have added and approximately for one slice of swiss cheese. A general familiarity goes a long way in making a good enough estimation while on vacation IMO
No reason you can't bring along your pocket calorie counter if you wish. Whatever makes you happy. Just don't announce it to the whole restaurant... :D Most of us are happy enough with a 'fair guess' while cruising. ;)

I have a simple plan for eating, and it works!
Breakfast, fish and fruit ONLY.
The rest of the day eat whatever you want.
On the average 14 day cruise I gain about 2 lbs.:)

We eat what we want to but do not go overboard. Just add some extra exercise. It seems we walk more so that helps us not gain any weight. Go luck and enjoy yourself. You are on vacation.
