Booked this a few weeks ago ... have been watching the sales and prices and they are going down! Never did a gty before but was told there was a good chance of an upgrade. Noticed today when I checked the sales, the prices were down on all cabins, but there were no more suites available or some sites said to 'call'. Does this mean all the suites have really sold out and therefore no chance of an upgrade? What we have from what I can see in pictures, etc. is perfectly fine ... just wondering since one can always dream of an 'upgrade'!!:)

not really
sounds like hal is not working on inventory and getting ready to work on guarantees
anything can happen
good luck

Being as how there have only been two people in the history of mankind to ever book an SZ guarantee and actually get an assigned SZ, your chances of an upgrade are substantial. (I know, I know-there have probably been more than two- but not many more)
The two SZ guarantees we have had resulted in an SS once and an SA the other time.

I agree with the previous posters. The fact it says to call can be due to many things. The suite categories may be sold out (after all, remember you have a guarantee). They have to assign them.
And you may get a call from the upsell fairy to see if you will pay a few dollars for the deluxe verandah suite. Don't want to get your hopes up, but depending on the sailing and the bookings, there have been some nice upsells on the boards. Just be ready in case you get the call.
If you think about it - it will be gone.

We booked an SY guarantee on that same sailing. Two weeks ago we were offered an upsell to an SA-SC. We took the upsell and choose a SB - aft wrap around cabin.
My guess is that they are now trying to assign guarantee cabins. Let's hope you get a great upgrade!

We too have an SZ booked for this cruise, although we booked ours 3 months ago. Still excitedly awaiting our cabin assignment, and looking so forward to some tropical weather:)

Thanx for the responses, guys! Still waiting for something .... but then it's still almost 2 weeks away so I'll be patient! LOL!! Good luck to others waiting as well. If you don't care to response, I understand, but just wondering 'ball park' figures on an upsell .... I have no idea so not sure I could be 'ready' with an answer if anyone called! LOL!! :)

An SZ guarantee is the best thing going with HAL. You can't loose. 85% of the time you end up with an SS or SY ---- 14% of the time you end up with a Deluxe Veranda Suite and 1% of the time you end up with an SZ (which is a very nice room) so you can't loose on this type of booking. We have done it several times and have never been disappointed. ---- you'll have a great cruise.

Thanx! According to the pictures on the deck plan .... there are only 2 SZ cabins and they are on deck 5 ... looks perfectly acceptable to me. What exactly is the difference between the SZ and the SS and SY? Is it just location or size too? Course, the Deluxe would be awesome as well, LOL!! Since we always get a Jr. Suite on deck 10 on RCCI's Voyager Class or up, mid ship .... we pretty much know what we're going to have .... think this is kind of exciting ... wondering, waiting, etc. Plus as I mentioned before, this is our first time on HAL so lots of new and exciting stuff going on!:D

I believe the main difference between the SZ, SS & SY is just location. We were supposed to be in an SS a few cruises ago, but we got an upsell offer to a Deluxe Verandah and.........:D I think you can guess the answer. I have seen the SY and it is quite comfy. :) Deluxe Verandahs are even more comfy though ;) Have a great cruise and do let us know how you make out please.

This is my 3rd cruise with a SZ Gty. Got upgraded to a SS mid ship both times in the past, and ended nabbing a upsale to a Deluxe for a "suite price" on our second cruise after our SS assignment. I'm hoping for some more good luck on my 3/26 cruise as well!!! ... although, I will stay just as excited if I'm assigned the SZ:)

Okay, just checked and we've been assigned .... from the SZ gty to SS, I think that's good, right? It's up a deck, #6 instead of #5 and looks to be sorta mid ship. Course was 'hoping' for a Deluxe,;) but I'm totally happy with this!:) We will actually be leaving for Ft. Lauderdale 2 weeks from today, so things are really coming together! WOO-HOO!!:D

We were upgraded on our first cruise from a SZ GTY to an SS mid-ship 9 months ago, and we've been hooked ever since:) Taking our third cruise in 2 weeks, and have another one planned for early September. I can honestly say I've spent a week in a midship SS and a midship Deluxe Suite, and would I do a SS again???? ... yes, in a heartbeat, and in 2 weeks from tomorrow again I'll be happily checking into my SS cabin:) They are soooo awesome!!!
