Actually it's been a oddly slow day for this time of year. My office manager is off today so I don't even have any admin work to do...dinner tonight with friends, 10 mile walk tomorrow a.m., back on the paint brush for the afternoon if it doesn't rain...LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Question, Duck...It looks like my airline to NYC may not be around in October so the $1000 I already had to pay Air Canada may vapourize. If I end up driving....where does one leave a car in NYC?? Is there safe parking near the peir??

This is what happens when you leave the running of a "for profit" airline to political appointees...

obviously the hotel will provide parking....at a price. upscale hotles are usually around $40 per day on top of your room rate. but your car is safe. as far as the peir goes i never left a vehicle there so i am not familiar with how it works or how safe it is. start a thread i am sure there are ccers who have paked at the ny peir. the only time i cruised out of nyc i still lived in brooklyn so we took a limo to peir and hailed a cab back home.

If it gets to this I think the hotel might make me feel more comfortable that my car will be there when I return...hopefully Air Canada gets its act together and I am able to fly as planned.

danno - how scary is the Air Canada situation. To beat the rising cost of fuel I booked our Jan flight last week with Air Canada. Duh!

My understanding is that this mess will be fixed very soon. Why can't they get their act together once and for all!

The only thing that will save AC is a complete change of attitude...don't expect that in our lifetime.

My TA, and every other TA in her office will book ANY other airline if possible before booking AC. Why? Simple...rules are rules with AC, NO exceptions no matter how valid the concern. All the other airlines will attempt to at least assist the customer.

This airline has simply enjoyed the status of being in a monopoly position for so long that they really have no clue how to run a competive business. Bankruptcy may be the best thing that could happen in the long run for air travel in this country...
