I am taking my first cruise in March on the Westerdam. I was just wondering if there are laundry facilities onboard. I read somewhere that the vista class ships do NOT have washer/dryer/iron & ironing board for guests to use. If this is the case, how am I going to iron my wrinkly clothes after being packed in my suitcase? TIA for offering any insight.

The Vista Style ships do not have self-service laundries onboard. You can, however, send your clothes out to be pressed if need be. There is also some type of deal on laundry, so much $$ for a bag of laundry. Someone else here may have better details than I do on that.

You're right---there are no laundry facilities on the Westerdam, or any of the Vista-class ships.

You can send your laundry out for wash and dry, or pressing only. Bringing a travel iron for in-cabin use is strictly verbotten.
You could bring a steamer to use, or hang your clothes in the bathroom and use the leftover steam from your shower.
Some folks swear by a wrinkle-remover spray (the name of it escapes me).
Other folks swear by using dry-cleaner bags to pack with.

Then there's folks like me---if it needs ironing, it doesn't need purchasing!

Everyone screamed when the Zuiderdam came out and there weren't any laundry facilities. By the time the Westerdam came out (3rd ship in her class) everyone was hoping that HAL had added that feature. No luck.

HAL believes that those cruises are just 7 days and passengers shouldn't have the need to do laundry. What they didn't count on was that some of us do back-to-back cruises and we tend to go to Ft Lauderdale a few days early - Hello - we have laundry. Fortunate for us we are always in a suite and it doesn't cost us anything for laundry, dry cleaning, etc.

BUT - when you get on the ship, check your daily program for laundry specials - by the bag - and also check the laundry list itself as they will sometimes list specials there.

We just returned from the Westerdam. This is what we did. For $30.00 they will press, not clean, your clothes all week. The only draw back is it takes two days to get your clothes back, so if you give a stack of clothes to your cabin attendant on Monday you won't get them back until Wednesday. But they are absolutely beautifully done when you get them.

:)My DW tries a spray to take out wrinkles and it really works. I is Downy Wrinkle Releaser. Leave time for clothes to dry after hanging.

My DW tried Downy wrinkle release spray and it works great. Just hang up clothes spray and allow to dry. We are on the Westerdam 3/27 and taking a bottle. Happy Spritzing

you can also get unlimited laundry (as much as will fit in the bag per day) for $40, we did that last year and it was well worth it
