I had posted a suggestion on the main roll call last week..so to officially add my 2 cents..what about Hawaiian Santa's & elves...it would be easy to have the Hawaiian shirts & santa hats....elves could wear the elve hats..everything could be bought at a $$ store.just imagine 150 or so Santa's running around :)
If this doesn't work here is another suggestion...
#2 We could try the "men" & "women" in "Black"-- a take off of the movie-"Men in Black" --dark sunglasses & either black dress or suit..

I like the Tu Tu idea. It is simple, and can be customized easily. The common theme for the group is there, but each individual can make it what they want by adding to it. A hat, a mask, a vest, a vegas showgirl headress

What about a tacky tourist theme? Wild shirts, plaid shorts, crazy hats, cameras or binoculars around the neck, black socks, shoes, etc. I hope you get the drift.
This is our first thought, but probably not the last.

As long as we do not have a "Sven" theme, we're game for almost anything.:D

On the jewel, several of us made M&M shirts, each couple picking different colors. Stores like Hobby lobby carry so many colors and a tee shirt is so easy to pack. (We had a pattern and used stitch witchery to attach felt ms)

I agree...I like tutu's. Easy....with a mask or whatever!

The thought crossed my mind that perhaps we could adopt a "Mardi Gras" costume theme.
That would certainly include tutus which could well appear on many a Mardi Gras floats. But, it would also leave room for individual creativity (including the old Cruse Critic standby of beads) and would fit nicely with our Big Apple to Big Easy motto.

Not a bad idea Oh green one.........not to shabby at all. Seems tutu's have the floor! :D

Let's see... day 10 of the cruise and lots of terrific food; we could go as a Mardi Gras FLOAT!

We could dress as each of the days of our cruise. Dirk and I have Statue of liberty and Uncle Sam costumes for day one. Perhaps someone with a good imagination could represent each port and sea days(A couple of formal nites, m&g day.) Last day could be a Mardi Gras jester
With the size of our group, we could have a half dozen people representing each day.

You guys may have already decided. Just in case, I like the Mardi Gras idea. I just can't see me getting Kenneth in a tutu. :p I'm not exactly sure what I'd wear with one either. Perhaps, I'm not imagining what you all have in mind. More clarification of what you plan for the tutus may help. :o Anyone want to share their tutu, costume ideas for both men & women?

Tammy....this is a picture of the guys wearing tutu's. The tutu's were easy to make...no sewing involved. The women wore them for an event, but the men wore them walking for a cure. They just wore shorts (walking) under them. It caused quite a stir LOL.

Gotcha! I was envisioning a poufy ballerina tutu. :p
I was thinking the Mardi Gras theme because I have a sequin dress that's too fancy for NCL, but would go great with a Mardi Gras mask. Just trying to get some use out of the expensive gowns I have no use for.

LOL....I sure wish I still fit into my sequin dresses! I couldn't even wear them for a costume:eek:.

With a group this large, we could represent each day of the cruise. We have Statue of Liberty costumes, representing sail away. Others could represent all of the other days...sea days, port days, formal nights, arrival on NOLA... with something appropriate to that particular day. Just a thought.

Someone earlier (on the main thread) had suggested a sports theme.
I like the idea of doing a "freestyle" costume theme...where we're free to ''whatever''! It leaves room for a lot more originality. Just my 2 cents. ;)

Oh, I'm just being optimistic that I'll be able to lose back down to fit in the dress by then. ;) If I tried to wear it now..... I'm working on the weight, but it's a slow go. Fortunately (or not), I have a long time to work on it.

Hi all, thought I'd join you on this board as well because it is also my DH's birthday !. He'll be celebrating his 62nd with all of you ! Like the idea of costumes. Probably will join in whatever the masses decide but leaning towards self expression lol. Fran

I just join this roll call and have been reading all the posts with the different suggestions of a Halloween Theme. I like the post that suggested a "Freestyle" costume theme. Since there are so many joining I would think it would get boring with the same theme. A "Freestyle" costume event certainly would bring out some cute; strange; funny and naughty? ideas! Possibly prizes of some sort for different catagories?
Just wanted to add to the many great suggestions.

We are planning on wearing costumes that I won't mind throwing out prior to our flight home from NOLA. We live in NY so getting our luggage to the port is a non issue for us. Not sure what we are going to do yet but how much room it takes up in luggage will be a BIG factor in the decision. We're on Delta and there is a $25. baggage fee. Hoping to do 2 carry on bags and check 1 bag. DH thinks a carry on will be enough for him but a 14 day cruise and a overnight in NOLA - I will need every inch of the 2nd bag! Fran

My costume will probably be dual-duty. Planning on some Mardi Gras masks and will probably wear them for Halloween too.

:pJust a Blue Dot!!!
So funny. Too bad we can't go as a group of blue dots but we have already decided to go as Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty!
Bought accessories on Ebay and I had a green sheet ready for the Statue of Liberty costume. Bill (husband) has a white beard of his own. Not long enough ,thank goodness !) I plan on possibly throwing out the costumes when we are finished with them in case I need the room in my luggage for stuff I buy in ports! Fran

Before you throw them away, I'd ask if they could use them for future parties.
