We are cruising on Oosterdam 3/26 and trying to find info from anyone who has taken the Las Caletas Hideaway excursion this year. Anyone who has taken this tour, please tell us about your experience. There are 9 in our family so we want it to be a special day. Thanks for your help.

We took this excursion a couple of years ago and it was wonderful. You travel over in a catamaran and they are already giving out the drinks--a little too early for me. The staff on the boat are very very entertaining. It was a lot of fun, especially on the return trip. Once you are across the Bay, there are several activities you can engage in--snorkel, kayak, scuba, hiking. I chose to snorkel. However, when we got into the water, there were jelly fish which were stinging so I opted to stay on the beach. While you are relaxing or participating in an activity, they are cooking paella in these large pans. They have a cooking demonstration is you wish. For a very reasonable fee ($50/hr) they have massages available. They take you up to a pretty high point in a little hut for the massage. All you can hear is the crash of the waves. It was wonderful! And much much cheaper than on the ship. They have the masseuses on the catamaran over and you can make your reservation time. Then you have a big lunch of the paella they were cooking and other Mexican dishes. Very nice. And like I said, the return back is a lot of fun as now everyone has loosened up. I would highly recommend this excursion.

Thanks for your reply. We signed up for this excursion, but I really don't like jellyfish!!! Do you remember what time of year you were there?

I believe it was the beginning of May. It didn't bother the others, but like you, I don't like jellyfish. Kayaking is another option. This is one of my favorite excursions even without the snorkeling.

We're going the end of March over Easter, so we'll keep our fingers crossed that there will be NO jellyfish!
