We are traveling in June on the Regent Navigator beginning in Seward. The first night of the cruise is a big celebration day for us and I was planning to make reservations at Prime 7. Is there any downside to dining there the first night of the cruise? Is there a recommended time for reservation so as not to miss anything else going on that evening? Thanks!

There is nothing big scheduled the first night as many people are still unpacking and getting organized. The second night is the Captain's Reception (great menu in Compass Rose on that night). Be sure to make online reservations as soon as they open so you can get the choice of time that works well for you.
Hope you have a great cruise!:)

Tavelcat2:
Thanks for the info on booking for the second day at the Prime 7. Is there enough variety to eat their every night? Or would you recommend every other night and try some of the other restaurants? We love our STEAKS here in North Texas!
Dusty111:
We are also booked on a June Alaska cruise with Regent departing Seward June 29 and arriving Vancouver July 6. We will be exploring Alaska one week before our cruise departure . I have already booked all the " FREE " excursions that were intersting to us and got all of our first choices. :)

You can't eat in Prime 7 every other night. You probably won't be able to eat there more than once.
Luckily, Compass Rose has plenty of variety, and a different menu every night.

Texoma, being from Tulsa and owning our own cattle ranch, we have just as good if not better steaks at our house. In fact, my husband is grilling a couple as I write. I order the Dover Sole in Prime 7 or the catch of the day. My husband has gotten a steak a time or two, but he much prefers the seafood.
Frankly, I wouldn't want to eat there more than a couple of times on a 7 day cruise because the menu in CR is really great. And we also enjoyed the more casual ambiance of La Veranda after a day of heavy touring.

Dusty111, I prefer to eat at Prime 7 the first night on board. It's a fun way to celebrate the beginning of our cruise. Plan to book the same night for my August cruise. If you have other family or friends on with you and want them to join you, you as the person booking the table need their suite and booking numbers.
Texoma, Due to the size of the restaurant and number of passengers, Regent permits only one initial online booking. If you'd like additional meals in Prime 7, you can always ask the maitre 'd each day if there is a table available for you and your party. Sometimes it works out. Wendy is correct in saying that the steaks in the Compass Rose are very good and there is some sort of steak on the menu each night.

Wendy,
Thanks for the quick response. Which day during the week would be better than others to eat at Prime 7....excluding first and last day of cruise?
Thanks again, Wendy, :)

We, too, prefer P7 on the day we board the ship. The two weakest menu days in Compass Rose, IMO, are boarding day (with all the extra work for the crew, crew turnover, etc.) and the last night of the cruise. Those, for us, are the days for alternative restaurants.

Well, I actually didn't mention steak at all. In fact I like the Dover Sole in Prime 7, and I rarely eat steak at all.

Sorry, Wendy. I was commenting on the Compass Rose daily steak menu, but notice now that your comment was directed toward the variety of the menu. mea culpa

Rachael,
Steaks inTexas are superb. Never had a steak in Tulsa. Since you seem to have an " unlimited " amount grazing in the back 500 acres,
I can understand your choice for seafood on board. I think we will take your advise and " hold " off on the steaks till we come home again to North Texas.
Thanks for chiming in your thoughts and advise,
John
