Did I read somewhere that HAL pool bags are left in the stateroom for passenger use or was that on Celebrity only?

Is there hallway/passageway music piped in on the Oosterdam?

The canvas totes? Those are given out during the cruise for you to keep.

From what I personally recall, I never heard music in the stateroom corridors while aboard Oosterdam but maybe a more recent cruiser can correct if I am wrong ..

In the process of packing and didn't know if I needed to pack a pool bag. Are the canvas totes in the room the first day?

If I remember correctly, the canvas totes are left in your cabin the evening before the first port of call.

There was not any music in the corridors on the Westerdam in December, thank goodness.

I don't recall ever hearing any corridor music on any HAL ships....(and hope I never do. ) ;)

The HAL canvas totes are delivered to cabins the evening before the first port.

That will be too late if I needed it for sea days...thanks!

Music - I just read a post where the discussion was about HAL's addition of music in the passageways. I'll see if I can find again.

Yes, Sealady. If your sea days preceed your first port, you will have to manage with something other than the HAL canvas bag.

I found a tote bag in my cabin the 1st night after coming home from dinner.

And NEVER heard music in the hallways anywhere on board.
Even the lifts are quiet ..... as it should be.

Did you have a port the next day or a sea day?
It would be very unusual for the steward to leave the bags until it was a port day but, sure.....I suppose sometimes they might. I wouldn't count on it though.

I could swear that it was the 1st night after sailing from San Diego. The 2nd day was a sea day.

Got back to my cabin late Sat night, and there it was on my bed.

I'd better stick one in just in case. ;)

They usually squish up small right? Can't hurt to bring one! :D

Nah, can't hurt at all.

Just shove one in your suitcase. It'll be wrinkled, but who cares.

We have sailed HAL many times and always the tote bag has been given out the evening before the first port day. The logic for that is they are complimentary to hold items for port visit or purchases. They are not considered pool bags but many use them for such after receiving them. Happy Sailing!
