Hello,

First time on the Mariner/Regent, does anyone know the fee for the internet? We will be doing Athens/Venice 2012.

Also, does cabin location matter as far as by the elevator (noisy) or mid ship?
We are currently on deck 7, G deluxe suite.

Thank you.

Pasted below is our observations on Internet in cabin on Mariner during our 2008 Circle South America cruise:
Some shipboard notes here. We are in cabins 736 and 738. The Internet signal in 738 is extremely low and unstable. It is better in 736, but the best place on this deck seems to be the chairs in front of the Main Atrium elevators before the spa and gym. Go figure. We cannot imagine the reason for the difference in signal quality just between the two cabins. But, if we only had 738 and basically no Internet access in suite, we would be very disappointed. Since we can walk across the opened balconies and get the signal in 736 it is not too bad, but it is bad.

We were on deck 7 right by the elevator on our last cruise. We never heard it at all. It was actually really convenient to step out the door and have the stairs and elevator right there.

Did deck 7 smell of smoke from the casino? If you were near the casino, did it smell of smoke?

Is it worth it to pay more for deck 8?

I was on deck 7 almost next door to Rachel and I never smelled any smoke. I agree with Rachel that it was very convenient to be so close to the elevator and stairs. No noise. Down two floors and you are right in the Coffee Connection. I am on the Voyager next month and I am in 715 directly across the hall from my suite (714) last year.

I've sailed on Mariner three times and I've never smelled smoke in the hallways outside the casino or near the suites on deck 7. Smoking is only allowed at the bar in the casino and the smell of smoke is usually not noticeable at the gaming tables unless you're at a table next to the bar or there are a large number of smokers. Usually only one or two people are smoking at a time.

If you're considering moving up to deck 8 solely to escape smoke on deck 7, I think you'd be wasting your money. Hope this helps.

I have to make a correction to my post. I just realized you asked about the Mariner and I was responding about the Voyager. I have been on the Mariner but not on deck 7 although I am booked there for a cruise in 2012. The suite arrangements are different on the Mariner but since I have never smelled smoke outside the casino I wouldn't expect to notice it in the area of the suites.

No, deck 7 did not ever smell of smoke. Our cabins were quite close to the casino and we did not smell smoke. I imagine that the smell of smoke in the casino could vary from cruise to cruise depending on the smoking passengers aboard at any given time, but we were onboard for 4 segments, I think it was, and we never smelled smoke in the hall outside our cabins or in our cabins. Honestly, the hall outside the perfume shop was more offensive than the hall outside the casino. And no there are no cabins near the shop! Deck 7 was great. No particular noise noted by the elevators at any time either, though again, it could vary depending on passenger content, etc.
