Cruising with Oosterdam on March 12th. Looking for recommendations on what might be a good (reasonably priced) hotel to stay at on return, with eay access to airport. Also, any suggestions on not-to-miss San Diego attractions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Motel 6 just bought the Travelodge. It is near the edge of the airport and also close to the cruise terminal. It is on Pacific Highway and when we drove by it yesterday, my husband commented that it was $49/night (probably single price but they add about $10 for a double). There is a little hotel in Little Italy called LePensione. It also comes in way under $100 and is very charming. Recently was totally renovated and is very close to both the airport and pier. There is a new little place called the Little Italy Inn on Grape also close to both. Lots of dining options in this area. Check the website for Motel 6 and LePensione. I don't know if the Inn has a website but I will check for future reference.

We like the Hampton Inn downtown on Pacific Hwy. Two blocks from the terminal, yet only about mile from the airport. We have stayed there twice.

I stayed there before my Mexico cruise a few weeks ago.

It's a nice hotel, clean rooms, nice friendly service.
For a budget hotel, it's not bad, and I'd stay there again.

But, it's not for anyone who expects full service like at
the Waldorf Astoria! It's a suitable place to hang your hat for a
couple of days.

Good points: as stated above, friendly and helpful staff ...
they KNOW where everything is, and will point you
in the right direction

plenty of great eateries around .... try the pizza
at Fillipi's across the street, you'd be back for
more!

convenient location ... close to the trolley stop.
and a 7 dollar cab ride to the dock

Bad points: smallish rooms, no closets
expect to keep your luggage wherever you can
find space (my bag made a nice addition to the
window .... it was hidden behind the drape)

And there is help with your bags, just have to request it.

I would stay there again. Good value for the money, and it's close to the ships!

While not reasonably priced, we are staying at the new Marriott Gaslamp Quarter next weekend. Here are reviews of the hotel from Trip Advisor.

We have stayed at the Embassy Suite many times both pre and post cruises and will be there again in November.

We have always been able to get a room on pne of the tops floors with a small balcony and be able to watch the ships come and go from the pier.

The hotel does have a full complimentary breakfast and hotel manager's reception every evening (free drinks and snacks). The hotel also has free shuttle service to the airport.

There are buses that stop right in front of the hotel - #7 - takes you to the zoo. Did it - loved it.

Forgot - from Embassy Suites

Horton Plaza is also within walking distance - a lot of shops and eateries - we walk over there - it's okay. Major shops are Nordstrom's, Macy's, and Mervyn's. There is also an internet cafe there - when we there in Oct they were charging $4 per hour.

The best place we love is Seaport Village - also within walking distance - a lot of nice small shops and restaurants along the inner harbor. We spend hours walking along there and going through all the shops and then having a couple of cocktails and enjoying either lunch or dinner.

Once in your life treat yourself to a stay at the Del Coranado. It's not cheap but its worth the extra money.

We stayed at the Residence Inn on Pacific Highway before our Mexican Riviera Cruise a few weeks ago. They have spacious suites and include a full breakfast within walking distance of good restaurants in Little Italy. It is close to both the airport and cruise terminal but there is one caveat. The hotel backs up to railroad tracks.

Come on, they asked for reasonably priced! The Hotel Del! Plus it is not close to anything. There are a string of motels on Pacific Highway that are all reasonably priced, the Hampton Inn is especially nice for the price. And of course, Le Pensione. I am going to look to see if there is a website for The Little Italy Inn. Just recently renovated an apartment building and turned it into an Inn. I live in LIttle Italy and can vouch for the good restaurants and nearness to the ship--you can walk. As far as things to do, I would take the trolley tour (forget what it is called). It stops all around town and you get on and off and all the attractions. Good way to see a lot of the city in a short time. It also Stops at the Hotel Del where you can browse around and have lunch or a drink.

Has anyone ever stayed at the Radisson Hotel San Diego Harbor View? We have reservations there prior to our 3/5 Oosterdam cruise.

The Del is heaven. You lounge by the pool and you have a flag, anytime you need the cabana boy, you raise the flag and they come and serve. The oudoor grill by the tennis courts is amazing. They serve the most delectable fresh strawberry crepes for breakfast. The beach is at least 200 yards deep.

Oh please, please, splurge in SD and stay a long weekend.
