When we got our docs there was a page about a Park and Fly plan concernin parking at the Ft Lauerdale airport or somewhere near there. Has anyone ever used this? Port Everglades is always so crowded so if this is easier I'd like to try.

I rec'd my doc's and was surprised to see the park n fly coupon. Having been in and out of the port on weekends when i did sail, I will more than likely take advantage of the opportunity NOT to park at port Everglades on a weekend. Last year when i departed on a Saturday, 7 ships arrived in the morning and those same 7 departed in the afternoon..... Just think of all that traffic !!!!!!!!!

Try the Costa web site. Recall a recent item in the local travel paper about it. Thought it only pertained to Costa, and didn't really absorb all the info. Good luck....

I'm not sure if its normal, but in April we used the parking garage across from pier 26. There were many ships in port that day and the garage was not even half full. I have to believe the percentage of cruisers that have a car to park is pretty low. Traffic was simply not an issue. We dropped our bags at the curb with the porter, parked the car and were in the terminal in about 10 minutes. I cant see how any type of remote parking and shuttle could be more convenient.

We have parked at the pier parking garage for the last 4 cruises that we have taken. We have had some very busy days with lots of ships in port but we have never had a problem finding a space in the garage. When we last used it (Nov 2004), it as $12/day.

That's where we always park, too- the Mid-Port Parking Garage at Pier 26- and it's never a problem.

We have used the parking garage at the terminal too. It's easy to drop off a passenger with the luggage, then park the car. When we left on the Zuiderdam, a hurricane was threatening to come towards Ft L'dale, so I wanted to park up high in the garage (so as to avoid storm surge water). No problem. After about the 2nd level, there we spaces everywhere. Also, it's quite easy to drive to the Port Everglades terminals too. I paid by credit card (@$12 per day) when we left. The garage appears to be secure.

This is the FLL Park 'n Fly... http://www.pnf.com/ftlauderdale/default.htm
I used them once when the Port Everglades garages were full, and it's safe and secure, and very easy, but the problem I have with it is that it's not covered. I would try for the garage at Port Everglades first.

I would think the garage at Port Everglades would be much more secure than just about anywhere else. Only ticketed cruiseship pax and authorized port personnel are allowed into the port. The whole port seems to be pretty well secured.

We always park at the port parking garages and have never had a problem finding space.
As far as security at the port, last time we went [Oct. 31] we were not asked for any ID or tickets. We were asked what ship we were sailing, then waved on through.

ParknFly is much cheaper, offers covered or uncovered secure parking and provides van service from their facility to and from the port free of charge. Plus, they wash the vehicle before you claim it. Check them out on their website. We used their service last December and were very satisfied.
Our only problem was in finding them the first time because their sign is easy to miss.

Thanks for all the info, I'm going to check them out to see how secure the parking is. We've gone out of Port Everglades several times and compareed with Miami or Port Canaveral it is the hardest to get into and seems the most crowded.

Sandij,
Because getting into and out of Port Everglades is such a pain, Park 'n Fly is an excellent option! We used them, as have friends, and highly recommend the experience. The cost is much less than parking at the pier and the service is great.
IMHO it is easy to find! Just take the Port Everglades exit from 595, go right at the first light and left into their lot.

I believe you're confusing the FLL Park 'n Fly with another one, or another company because the FLL Park 'n Fly does NOT have covered parking. It's ALL open air, and they don't do car washing either.
