Hi,

Does anybody know which night is usually the BBQ night. We're on the Westerdam leaving Ft Lauderdale on Sunday 4th December. Should we book the Pinnacle that evening, so is the BBQ a night not to be missed. Not sailed HAL before, so have no experience to draw on.

We did the same itinerary on the Odam last march. The BBQ night is usually the same night as Dutch night in the dining room, I am almost 100% sure it was on wednesday (Tortola). We really enjoyed the BBQ by the Lido pool, but get there early it gets crowded fast.

I thought it might be the Wednesday. My 50th Birthday is that night and we really fancied the Pinnacle to celebrate. Now I have to think about it!

Do they run out of BBQ or is it just slow if you get there later?
We are accustomed to dining late, especially if we spend the day in port. It would be a shame to miss a BBQ to the early bird diners.

The BBQ was Wednesday, on our cruise (feb 6 - 13th) this was St Martin. We had been on the catamaran all day so we opted for the BBQ, it was good, but like was mentioned it was very crowded.

Our BBQ night was on Wednesday - the night we were in St Maarten - the same night as what they some refer to as Dutch night. Dutch night isn't advertized as such anymore - and no more dutch hats to were in the restaurant.

We were on the Westerdam in January and went to the Pinnacle that night - hardly anyone was eating there.

There was plenty of food, good but not spectacular food (ribs, steaks, chicken) but kind of crowded. I don't think the dutch night menu appealed to many people (they still called it dutch night on the daily program but I have no idea if they handed out hats), if it were a special bday I would book the pinnacle.

On the Westerdam it was not referred to as Dutch night in the dining room.

We haven't gone to a BBQ in a long time - the steaks are too tough - and the ribs were also tough when we went to one in 2004 on the Oosterdam.

We just returned from the Westerdam on 2/13 and there wasn't any Dutch nite. Also the BBQ nite was just OK. If you miss it, you can wait until you visit Half Moon Cay, you have a complete BBQ there. Don't get the steaks unless you're redoing a pair of shoes that's how tough they were.

What!? No more dutch hats!? This is an outrage! Personally, I enjoyed the Dutch Nights. I liked the food. The hats were fun.

Oh well, I'm used to having my cheese moved.
