So we now have NCL, Carnival, Princess, RCCL and Disney sailing from NY most of the year. I understand that we have the Veendam for the Bermuda run. If all these cruise lines have figured out that there is $$$ to make sailing from NY for the most part of the year, then why doesn't HAL? I have read and hear all the arguments about fuelscosts, damage to the hull, ya da, ya da, ya da!!! If NCL, one of the cheapest lines out there, keeps two ships sailing from NY year round, and still makes a profit, then why oh why doesn't HAL! We miss the Noordam sailings from NY.

I don't really know ... but if NYC was profitable for HAL they wouldn't they have stayed there?

They tried it with the very beautiful, then brand new Noordam. If it had been successful, it is doubtful they would have changed homeport to FLL.
