You know, its amazing when folks complain about "only getting $XXX" when something like this happens.
The line is basically giving their profit back to the passengers. These folks still had the benefit of being fed and looked after and driven around the ocean for a week - the line still has to pay for food, fuel and crew salaries when an engine goes wrong.
I mean, what do these folks want???

I would have been thrilled with a ship board credit. In 1994 we were cruising Mexico on Carnival and ran into Hurricane Rosa. Spent 5 days at sea trying to out-run Rosa, missed 2 out of 3 ports and ended up in Ensenada. Half to 2/3 of the crew was sick so service wasn't good. Not the cruise we had dreamed of. Carnival didn't offer anyone on the ship anything, during or after their cruise. I guess their P.R. department has at least stepped it up a notch. It was disappointing to not get to where we were suppose to go but life is full of them. They should be happy with their credit and get over it !!!!!!!
