Hello all,

Just booked Mediterranean Empires on HAL sailing from Venice for next year. Has anyone been on this ship or done this itinerary? Should my stateroom be on port or starboard for this cruise?? Thanks!

Welcome to Cruise Critic! :)

We did this itinerary on this ship last Sep/Oct, except we missed going to Split because of an electronics problem.

Our veranda was on the starboard side, but I don't think the side makes much difference in the views. Going down and up the Adriatic both sides have good views, and the same is true going in and out of the Dardanelles. What you don't see one way you can see the other way.

When docked in Athens we had the better harbor view. Leaving Venice the better view is on the port side, so we were up on the Panorama deck for that. Coming back into Venice you have to be up very early to see the city from the starboard side, but we were.

Thanks for the info. I'm booked in a starboard verandah, maybe we'll move aft to get the best of both worlds!

Thanks for the info. I'm booked in a starboard verandah, maybe we'll move aft to get the best of both worlds! We had a stern veranda once, and I didn't like it. It was not a corner suite, so I could not look forward to see what we were approaching, but only see what we had passed some time ago. This especially annoyed me when coming into a port. To each his own! :D

You picked a great ship to be on. Could you pack me in the luggage?

We were on the aft for our 2 weeks in the Caribbean. Loved it. Amazing views...

And if you want to see what's coming up, either go up top above Tamarind, above the Crow's Nest or on the "hump" on deck 5 if it's opened up

There is literally no "bad" place to be on this ship! Wherever your stateroom is located will be just great and you will love the ship, the crew, the service, food and the general ambiance of the vessel. I have not been to Europe, but I spent 14 days on her in March and could have easily moved into our aft suite for good! Don't worry. Your cruise will be magnificent! Enjoy!
