No More Clamshells?

We're booked on the 3-27-05 Westerdam cruise and tried to book a clamshell for the 28th and was told that I will be on a wait-list. Does this mean that all the clam shells are taken already? Has anyone ever gone through this before? I know there are 2 ships in that day but I can't beleive that they don't plan for this and have more than needed for that day. What's the chances of one becoming available while on the wait list?
I sound a little deperate, but the fact of the matter is that we have a 2-1/2 year old that probably needs to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

Yes, this means they are all rented. Even reserving one doesn't guarantee that you'll receive one anyway.

If you are able to walk a little bit, there is plenty of shade, and many fewer people, further down the beach. Just grab a couple of chairs, and drag 'em on down the beach.

The clamshells are pretty tight anyway-they just fit two chaise chairs, that there wouldn't be much space for a child to play anyway.

Another option is to check at stores that offer baby supplies, or online. There are collapsible sunshelters that are lightweight and fold up quite small to carry in your luggage. Can't get a chair inside, but are ideal for keeping your little one out of the sun.

My sis can't take much sun so carries a slightly larger size on all her camping and beach trips. It measures about 15" x 18" x 2" when folded, has collapsible spring-loaded poles to keep it open when in use. It's neat!

With 2 cruise ships sharing the island the same day, everything goes really fast - especially the clam shells! The island gets very crowded in certain parts as well.

No HAL can not add more clam shells as they have not bought any more. The stakes are already in the sand for those that they have available.

You may also find long lines at the BBQ.

If you are thinking about any of the new shore excursions there, book them early.
