Looking at a 11 day panama cruisE for November. Have never sailed HAL before, and am trying to compare the cabins to the mini suites we are familiar with on Princess.

We're looking at the "v" cabins, or an sy guarantee. The higher level v's seem just about as much as the sy? There seems such a range of space listed on hal's site for the v's, low 200's to low 300's, I don't understand.

Also, we really enjoy sitting on our balcony in the sun;are some cabins more exposed? Or Are they all shaded by the cabin above them?

We are very excited about trying Hal, been looking at the panama cruises for a while and like their itinerary over princess, but even after looking at joanie's cabin sticky above I'm still confused.

Thanks for any insight as to what's a "better"cabin.

We like the VD cabins on Deck 4 - the balconies are a bit deeper and part if it is exposed above.

For sunning on the balcony, (if your trip is round trip Ft. L) you will get sun in the am on the port side on the way down in the am, sun in the evening on the way back. Vice-versa on the starboard side. But in port, the ability to find shade varies greatly.
Note: I noticed some veranda rooms forward on deck 8 that have a angular balcony that might provide more sun.

Rirst of all for the Panama, IMO you are making a great choice by doing HAL.

if the SY's are the same price or very close, personally I would do that. I believe the verandahs are bigger and no question that the room itself is a lot bigger. I'd do that, but that's just me.

We love HAL and have sailed others. Hope you have a great cruise :)

We sailed in Feb. on Zuiderdam, when we booked we usually book a VA cabin but the lady that did the booking(on ship) said how we won't want VA as SY was only $51 pp more so jumped at it and really enjoyed our extra room, we only had the 10 day cruise but are looking at next year for the 11 day. Sure hope they have a deal as good as the last time.;);)

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the SY will be larger than the Princess cabin :) There are not many SY's, so from a guarantee point of view you could end up in SS:)
