Thanks for the post. I was supposed to be on the this cruise with a local group but had to cancel due to my wife getting sick.
I have been following them every day since they left Ft Lauderdale and imagining what I would be doing if I was on-board.

one time i remember that we were told we would start through around 8 -- the next thing we all knew -- we were going through at 7
so since i am an early riser -- i'll be ready no matter what time they start through
thanks

I'm on the ship right now and I didn't know that so thanks:). I know there were plenty of people complaining about the Oosterdam this year but I think in terms of service my Oosterdam cruise was better. The service in the dining room on the ship has been spotty at best. I've got open dining which I like and we've found a good team so that's ok. My room stewards are OK too but not as good as the Oosterdam. It's also taking longer for laundry to come back then it has before. None of it is a big deal but just thought I would mention it. Watch for us going thru the canal:D.

Glad I could get you the info early ;)
Just a guess but I bet the laundry service is a bit slower because there could be a lot more 4 Star Mariners on board. I think the longer voyages tend to get more Mariners, but as for the other services not quite being as good, not sure I know an answer to that.

You would think there would be a lot of 4 stars on this cruise. I saw a list when I got on the ship and I was surprised because it doesn't seem like there are many of us. Seems like a lot of newer cruisers on this cruise.

Well I have to say that the word tentative was not needed. The Westerdam was right on time with the times being absolutely correct :)
She is now approaching the Mira Flores and will soon be on the West Coast ;)

when we did the repositioning cruise in 2008 on this ship there were very few mariners with a lot of days -- on this cruise we had nearly 500 day and there was no one with more days than us -- really surprised us
slightly more mariners on the 2009 cruise

I had fun watching knowing that she was heading to the West Coast so we could sail on her 4 weeks from Saturday:D
Our last cruise to Alaska 2 years ago was on the Westerdam so it will be fun to return :)
