First time cruiser

Hello, will be cruising for the first time on the Zuiderdam 6/25 to the Carribean. Have Room 6009 Any suggestions? Have read to get to Ft. Lauderdale the day before..................why? Oh we are celebrating our 20th anniversary and leaving our four kids behind! Yahoo. Thanks for any help or hints.:)

Welcome to the board and the world of cruising! I'm sure you'll enjoy your cruise on the Zuiderdam. Its a good idea to arrive the day before the cruise. It solves missing the cruise because of airline delays and also lets you be well rested to begin the cruise. We've used Priceline to get a good deal on a hotel precruise. See BiddingForTravel.com for much necessary and good information on Priceline bidding. If you bid in the Downtown zone for 3* or 4* you're likely to get a very good hotel that's convenient to the port ( a $12 cab fare) at a good price.

Looks like we will be on the same cruise celebrating our honeymoon. Maybe you can give us some tips on how to make it to 20years. Congratulations:)

We are going on our first cruise on 3/5 on the Zuiderdam. Congrats on the anniversary and honeymoon. We are going because we finally got together. DH asked me to marry him in 1979 turned him down and did not see him again until 1998. He never married anyone else because he only loved me. We were married 6 months later. He was single for 56 years and is now 62. They call us Cinderella and Prince Charming. We will let you know how are trip is...most of the good stuff anyway:p
