View Full Version : Is there still a Suite Lunch/Brunch?

It has been almost two years since we had a Deluxe Verandah Suite with HAL and that was on the Westerdam to Alaska and we actually did have the Suite lunch or at least Tom and are pretty sure there was. We remember there was one up in the Crow's nest toward the beginning of the cruise and the Mariner lunch was the last day with the night being Victoria. I know at the time The eruodam was not having one but rather the last night did a cocktail party.

So my question is do the S Suites still have the Suite Brunch or have they totally discontinued this?

We were just on the Rotterdam for a 14 day Panama Canal trip. Yes, they had a special luncheon for the Suite guests. It was Indonesian themed.

How long is your cruise Lisa? We tend to do more than 7 days. Our shortest is 10 and the longest usually 20. We have always had a suite lunch except on the NA last year. However, we had NORO and a lot of sick crew so I attribute it to that as i know it was planned for the Tamarind originally.

(we were going to reserve lunch for that day and the concierge said it was the suite luncheon day). So, they are still doing them, but I suspect on cruises over 7 days:confused:

Have a great cruise :):)

for a long time hal used to say that the suite lunches would only be on cruises 10 days or longer

but a few ships did try to get one in on the 7 day cruises

now with so mariners the majority of the ships have to do 2 mariner brunches which takes up the 2 sea days

only once on a long cruise -- 19 days - did we have a situation where our mariner brunch was scheduled for the same day as our suite lunch -- we chose to go to the suite lunch

We had a suite lunch on our 11-day Maasdam cruise a few weeks ago. It was held in the lower level of the MDR. It actually was an excellent meal put on by the Pinnacle Grill chef and staff. :)

It seems I saw in the HAL literature Suite Lunches are for 10 day or longer cruises.

There was a suite lunch on Noordam in March I think. We never attend.

I'm quite sure Maasdam had one on our December cruise also.

Both were ten day cruises.

No the one I am asking about will be for our 7 day Alaska on the Westerdam. I know that the Eurodam and NA were not doing them but some of the Vista Class were still doing them (last I remembered) so just curious if any 7 day cruises recently had them. We are actually booked in a Superior Verandah Suite and just debating out options about moving up to an SA. Tom really likes those Suite Brunchs, actually far more than the Mariner one.;) I know Alaska has not started yet but wondering if they might. If no 7 day cruises were having them right now then it would not be likely that they would be doing it on the Westerdam.

OK, thanks everyone that pretty much answers it. It does sound like they have totally eliminated this for 7 day Suite passengers. Now my questions is did they have the 2nd cocktail party then? I know that on the NA they did the first night Suite Cocktail Party, then of course there was the VIP Party, but I also saw where they did the last night Suite Cocktail Party in the Pinnacle Bar. Is this what the other ships are doing as well? Or was this just he NA? I know in Dec. 2008 this is what the Eurodam did as well.

We have had a rare Suite farewell party on Maasdam in past years but all five of our seven day Eurodam cruises had a wonderful Suite farewell party held in Pinnacle Bar.

Lisa, On our last three cruises they had a Suite lunches.

Both on the Eurodam and the Oosterdam on seven day cruises, it was held in the Crow's Nest with a lot of tables of food and the "chef" carving the meat entree in the buffet type of dining. On the 10-day Zuiderdanm cruise in January, the Suite Lunch was held in the Pinnacle Grille and it was an Indonesian in both food and their dress.

We had the suite lunch on the Oosterdam last June Alaska cruise. I believe it was on the same day as the Mariner brunch. Some attended both, first the Mariner event and then the suite lunch. The suite lunch was in the Crow's nest.

When we were in an S suite on the Ryndam in Alaska in 2007 the suite lunch was an excellent Indonesian buffet which we thoroughly enjoyed.

We have SA cabins for our 7 night Mediterranean cruise in ten days time and also for a 12 night Baltic itinerary at the end of June. As they are both on the Eurodam we'll be interested to see the difference for suite passengers between the two cruises and will report back.

It will be such a treat when we leave the ship in Barcelona to know that we'll be boarding the Eurodam again just six weeks later. We attended her naming ceremony on 2008, so last time we were on board was for the 3 night 'prelude' trip before the offical inaugural. We can't wait to sail on her again. Tamarind is booked!

OK Now I don't know what to think, many are reporting in that there has been recent Suite Lunches on the 7 day :D
I guess I will have to contact the person I know on the ship to ask for sure. But I will wait till they start the Alaska season ;)

We had a suite lunch on our seven day Mexican cruise on the Oosterdam in December 2010 and it was held in the Crow's Nest. They closed off our part of the lounge for the hour and a half or so that the luncheon was going on, and therefore the library/Explorations Cafe were still available to passengers during that time frame.

he - he -- it looks as though that any ship we sail on for 7 days -- no suite lunch

so - beware suite passengers -- sail on the ships we sail on -- no suite lunch on 7 day cruises

On Westerdam two weeks ago (7-day Eastern Caribbean) we did not have a suite luncheon, only a Mariner Luncheon. We had one suite cocktail party early-on during the sailing. There was not a second suite cocktail party.

We attended a suite lunch in the lower dining room of the Volendam's last Alaskan cruise for the season, Tuesday 21st September 2010.(a sea day),the day before returning to Vancouver.
There had been a Welcome Aboard party in the Neptune Lounge during the evening of boarding day.

We had a suite lunch on our 7 day Christmas cruise on the Noordam. It was held in the PG not the crow's nest. It was typical of most that we have attended in the past. My favorite was the Indonesian lunch we had on on our PC cruise in November 2009.

There were also 2 parties - one if the Neptue and the 2nd in the Crows Nest the last evening.

I'd rather a Suite farewell party than Suite lunch. We never go to that lunch but we never miss the Welcome or Farewell parties. :)
