Krazy Kruizers,
You mentioned on an earlier thread that you were due to visit your Orthopaedic Surgeon on the 25th.
Am hoping you are making good progress and received a positive report, to enable you to continue your plans for your cruise to Alaska.

We all know that you will do great in Rehab. Look how great you do with 2 fingers, wait until you can use them all!

I limped from July to December with a 'twisted knee' (I thought). I could not walk without pain meds. My kneecap was making its own groove on the end of my femur. One week in physical therapy, and I was walking without a limp, and I was able to discontinue my pain meds. I LOVE my physical therapist, and she LOVES me... that's what she says right before "This may hurt a little."
Best wishes to you! I hope all goes well, and you can sing the praises of PT. Hope they get you fully mobile in quick order.

Good luck with your PT. And have fun planning your Alaska (Amsterdam I believe?) cruise. I am calling "your" limo suggestion today for our upcoming trip. Appreciate all your insights and suggestions.

thank you everyone
i didn't get all the good news that i had been hoping for -- i already knew that i would only gain 80% of the movement of the hand and wrist back -- the thumb and first finger will be of little use -- but i hope to prove the surgeon wrong on that!!
my personal doctor is on vacation right now -- i do have an appointment with him in may -- but that may be stepped up when he gets back as i need to be tested for osteoporosis

I have no feeling, but some use, of my left thumb. A result of falling and putting my arm thru a glass door way back in the days before safety glass. Slit my wrist wide open. I have a feeling you will prove the surgeon wrong and be typing with 10 fingers before you know it!

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Not sure what the original injury was -- I missed the original posts -- but if it involves the hand, make sure they send you to a physical therapist who specializes in the hand. The best hand surgeon is our area is a guy named Glenn Buterbaugh and he has trained a lot of PTs on how to rehab hands after major injuries (he is actually the Penguins and Steelers hand specialist -- when I saw him the other day, he was sporting a Stanley Cup ring), so you might look for a PT who was trained by him. A lot of what you get back comes down to the therapy. My hopes and prayers will be with you.:)

Good luck with the PT. Do whatever exercises they tell you to do at home. It helps.

dan -- i fell at the embassy suites on feb 10 -- the night before we were to fly to ft lauderdale for a 20 day cruise -- i fractured the radius bone in a 'y' shape -- had some smaller fractures as well -- also bruised my ribs and all the muscles under them
i have to go where security blue will cover part of the therapy -- working with pittsburgh orthopedics -- one of their offices is right here in white oak -- handy to get to

Good luck with the PT. I fractured my humerus last year in a Y break. It is all better now, for the most part. I complained about PT but it is necessary!
