Hi All,
Below is a past post which I have copied from a search of this forum regarding the larger balconies on soltice class ships.
Am I right in thinking we have booked a triple sized balcony 6156 and a larger than normal balcony 6158?
The price has dropped and my travel agent will upgrade us however I would rather have the extra balcony space. I can not find 6156 on the spreadsheet and wonder if any of you kind people have either stayed in this cabin or if you agree with the orginal poster.
Thanks

Hi
I copied this from another post as i found the information very helpful.

personally LOVED my C1 hump cabin #1243 - about triple the size of a standard balcony - it was HUGE!!!!! Literally the largest non-suite balcony on the ship! The balcony was great for hosting cocktail parties - we had 25+ people out there one day! Being on the aft part of the hump there was virtually no wind issue to deal with. We got sun when we wanted it, and shade if desired as well. Due to balcony depth there were no privacy issues related to the angled shape.

There are 58 +/- cabins with the same size balcony we had - they are:

Resort Deck: 2105, 2109, 2106, 2110
Penthouse Deck: 1547, 1552, 1601, 1605, 1606, 1610
Sky Deck: 1075, 1044, 1231, 1243, 1247, 1108, 1120, 1124
Panorama Deck: 9155, 9192, 9209, 9215, 9237, 9241, 9266, 9270, 9292, 9296
Vista Deck: 8199, 8162, 8255, 8259, 8281, 8285, 8228, 8232, 8254, 8258
Sunrise Deck: 7159, 7206, 7215, 7219, 7241, 7245, 7260, 7264, 7286, 7290
Continental Deck: 6155, 6156, 6209, 6215, 6237, 6241, 6210, 6214, 6236, 6240

Most of these are on the hump, but some are forward where the ship starts to indent. The rooms run the range from Category 2C, 1A, C1, or AQ (with the exception of 6209/6210 which are categorized as 07 Obstucted Balcony - great balcony at a small price!). There are also many cabins adjacent to the ones I listed that also have oversized balconies that are about double the size of normal ones, but I would go for the triple sized ones first

Yes, you are correct. 6156 is about triple the size and 6158 about double.

I believe that the cabin listings that WelshFamily copied from another post was actually corrected in that same thread. Case in point, 8162 is listed as one of the largest but it actually is 8160 which is on the slant of the hump. Double check these cabins before you book off these cabin numbers.

I booked #6209 for our July 2012 Iceland/Norwegian Fjord cruise...It was sort of hard to pass up the way oversized balcony at the low 2D price...
The "obstruction" is the end of the lifeboat/tender which is to one side of the balcony...and can be seen over...

I found this photo somewhere (click on thumbnail below) of #6210 which is the identical cabin on the other side of the ship...

Steve,
Your photo helped me decide to book 8257 on next May's Silhouette sailing we recently booked. It does look like a great balcony.

Hi Mike, We am on the May 18 cruise with you and in the past few days released cabin #9237 which supposedly has a triple size balcony. I upgraded to the cabin directly above, 1243. (See comment about 1243 above) Maybe when we're on board we can see who has the biggest balcony. Looking forward to seeing all and look for future comment on our roll call, you're certainly welcome to have an adult beverage on our balcony---------- Bill

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the offer. I have been known to enjoy and adult beverage, especially on balconies. :D I do think our balconies will be the same, since we are the in the same position on the opposite side of the hump. But we can certainly compare to see who's balcony is bigger.

Thanks to the info I found on these boards we booked 8257 on the Solstice for our Hawaii cruise, with 5 sea days we will spend alot of time on this super balcony! Wish they would put a lounge chair on the bigger ones, sure looks like it would fit easily.

Just off Eclipse & the last two cabins have double the narmal size balconies. We were in #6303 on Continental deck. The very last cabin on port side before the rear Sunset Veranda Cabins. Very nice balcony & very quiet cabin. Had a very minor obstruction, the top blue trim of the area around the specialty restaurants but only prevented us from looking directly down. Well worth the the EXTRA large balcony!

This photo doesn't really show how large the balcony really is, but it does show the "minor" obstruction

Thanks for the pic. I have been looking for one for some time. WE are in 6303 on the Equinox in 10 days. I am curious. Did the glass panel on the right side of the picture open to the next cabin? We also have 6301 (the other cabin in question) and want to connect the balconies.

We cruised two years in a row in cabin 8257 on the Equinox and loved it. Good position on the ship and a short walk to the elevators and stairs. Would do the same cabin on the Reflection when it is built.

We have 8257 booked for an April 2013 Caribbbean cruise on Eclipse...picked it because of the info on these boards. Can't wait to have the bigger balcony, just wish I could find a picture of it. Is there room for a lounge chair on the balcony, and is it really 3X regular size?

Thanks so much!

The pic I saw of it showed plenty of room for a lounge chair, but it is too low of a class to have one. Bummer. :(

When you reference these larger verandahs, are they only bigger depth wise? Or is it also in length. I'm interested moreso for the larger verandahs for categories 1A through 2D on equinox which is a solstice class ship.

Thanks!

I have a question regarding the cabins on the slant. Does the room configuration lose anything due to the slant of the room? Any less furniture or any negatives against the cabin due to the slant? Just curious. I've stayed in a cabin on the slant on HAL, and the room was normal except it didn't have a couch it just had a small table and a chair.

It is bigger than the standard veranda . . . probably double. The width is the same, but the veranda is deeper.

LKN-NC
July 16th, 2011, 08:08 PM
7247 is not as large as 7241 & 7245.

The 1st and 3rd balconies counting away from the hump are the largest; the 2nd and 4th are not quite as large but still huge.

A general rule of thumb is that the 1As are all extra large balconies.

Great photos showing the balcony sizes. But it makes me wonder what the hallway arrangement inside is like with the 10ft or so offset between the last stateroom on the hump and the first angled balcony. Is there an open area in the hallway, or does it jog over the equivalent number of feet?

TO BOOGS,

No need to wonder... Take a look at the Deck Plans on Celebrity's Website !!

All the Staterooms are the same size inside... it is the hallway that jogs to correspond to "the hump / bump"... ONLY the Verandas are deeper.

Cheers!

Thanks! The deck plans make it look like a larger space there. We've booked room 1073, which is the last on the hump before the angled balconies (a larger balcony is less important to us than unobstructed views forward and aft) and were curious if there was a storage room or other potential source of noise located in the apparent space.

Hi, I was in 6303 on Eclipse. I don't have a photo (sorry) the cabin
is aft on the ship and yes the balcony is a bit larger. Just so you know
below the balcony is the top of the specialty restaurant. So you cannot
see down to the water. It didn't matter to me though. Also, it is
totally covered so if you looking for "not so much" cover, this may
not be the cabin for you. I liked it though:)

Nope, I felt fine:).....no tunnel feeling. (Not that I can recall
anyway). I had the cabin back in 2009 so it has been a few
years. It was shady out on the balcony (which was ok with me).
And no, I didn't feel like the cabin was dark.
Eclipse and Silhouette are sister ships....of course there are changes
on Silhouette...Lawn Club Grille is in the spot where the Glass show
is on Eclipse.
The Porch is on Silhouette, not on Eclipse......

I think the cabins would be the same though.

Does anyone know why 1608 is not included in the larger balcony list?

Because, as the poster says in her post (in the last line you have quoted), the list is only of the largest balconies (the first and third off the straight part of the hump), and not of the second largest, the ones next to them (the second and fourth cabins off the hump). 1608 falls in the latter category; it's larger than a normal balcony, but not the very largest. (In other words, this is not a complete list of all the S-class cabins with oversized balconies.)

Hope that helps.
