I know this has been asked and answered before, but we want to book a night at the Pinnacle during a 7 day cruise on the Oosterdam and need to choose a night when we don't miss good things in the MDR. I recall that one night is lobster night. Also we are in fixed dining with 6 others and need to meet and greet them and the staff. So, that might be a good reason to go to the MDR on the first night. Any opinions from experienced cruisers?

lobster night is the second formal night of your cruise -- hope that helps a little

you didn't mention it -- but are you on an alaskan cruise?

My favorite night to be in the Pinnacle is Master Chef's night. Mrs Banjo & I don't like the lack of time flexability on that night and we also don't care for the show. We have seen it once, that was enough. We always try and get a PG reservation for the last night.

of OP is on an alsakan cruise -- the last night of the cruise is Victoria -- late port times -- no master chef dinner that night

Ok, sorry then any night in the PG is good

Sounds like there are no preferences except to avoid the master chef's night, which isn't the last night in Victoria. And I should not miss the 2nd formal night in Ketchikan. So maybe the third day would be good. Enough time for PG staff to get used to the menu and the provisions all accounted for. Those were two common complaints I saw from those that previously posted bad experiences in PG. Thanks for any added thoughts.

More than that, on my last Alaskan cruise there was no late seating dinner in the MDR at all at the Victoria stop. My normal dinner was completely cancelled! That turned out to be a very good night for dining in the Pinnacle Grill, which we did.

Did I read the previous post correctly? There is not dinner in the MDR on the night in Victoria?

There most certainly was when I was on the Amsterdam last August.
I have been on cruises when there was a very late night in an important port. Fixed seating was cancelled that night, and everyone went to open seating. I can't recall for certain, but I believe the upper level of the dining room was closed entirely that night. That kept the passengers, and hence, the work, confined, and allowed some workers time off.
Have no fear---you will be fed!

If this is true then I am going to advance book the Pinnacle for that night.
