We will be going on our second cruise, both with Holland America. Our first was last April on the Maasdam (Eastern Caribbean). We thoroughly enjoyed it and are booked on the Prinsendam going around the Mediterranean on 28/11/05. We are booked in cabin A161 and was wondering if anybody can tell me what the situation is with the life boats which appear to be hanging alongside the ship as opposed to tucked within like on the Maasdam. I'm not complaining, just curious. Can't wait to go - I think it's true that once you have been on one cruise you're hooked! We picked the Maasdam last time as it is smaller than most cruise ships we've looked at and now we're going on the Prinsendam which is even smaller - hopefully we won't get lost so much this time!

I think you mean October for your Med cruise, because we're going to be on the Prinsendam from Lisboa to Ft. Lauderdale from the 9th to the 24th of November, then it goes to the Amazon!
The lifeboats are not blocking any windows as I remember -- They're in front of the Boutique, Photographer's display, Shore booking office and Hotel manager's office, etc. on the Promenade deck. You're a flight up from there, about amidships on the starboard side of the Upper Promenade deck.
We loved the Prinsendam and got hooked, just as you did. She's a beautiful boat, small enough so you can make friends but large enough that you can hide if you want. The captain is a PEACH! Happy voyage and I wish I were going with you.

You will like the Prinsendam. We were on the same cruise last fall with Lane and Susan. You definitely won't get lost. Having sailed on the Zuiderdam, we were amazed at how quickly we could get places on the Prinsendam. It's just a few minutes from stem to stern!

Bonners,
You will love the Prinsendam. We were on her in October and enjoyed our cruise immensely. The Prinsendam was in Melbourne yesterday and she looked like a big yacht compared to the other ships in Port.
The crew on her are terrific and we found the food to be delicious. Have a great cruise.
