Heading out on the Oosterdam next Sunday and my MIL wanted to know if corned beef hash is served anywhere for breakfast onboard. Not being a big hash fan and since we always do room service I didn't know the answer. So, does anyone know the answer-can hash be found for breakfast?

I have seen corned beef hash with or without poached egg offered for breakfast in Lido. We rarely go to Lido at breakfast so not sure if they still offer it but I know for sure they have in the recent past.

Corned beef hash was a daily offering for breakfast in the dining room on the Veendam last February. I ordered it once, it didn't taste like the Dinty Moore I grew up with.

Corned beef hash has always been offered in the MDR and it is not bad.

I had it in the MDR a couple of weeks ago on the Nieuw Amsterdam. I didn't care for it. It had green peppers in it and it was kind of dry. The corn beef hash made around my way, is made without peppers. JMO

In november I was on the Amsterdam for 2 weeks, never saw it ( corn beef hash)in the lido and dont eat in the main dining room much.
Actualy the more I eat in the lido the less I want to eat in the dining room, which has the same food, more noise and crowded than the lido..
That said, the Neiw Amsterdams lido is not your normal buffet... with linnen on the table and flowers too..... and you can craft your exact menu as you see or feel.
It is on the dining room menu however.

right -- corned beef hash is only in the dining room
you can try to order it through room service -- but you have to remember to order breakfast to be delivered for a time after the dining room has opened

Really, I've never found that to be the case. When do you go to the lido...at 6:30? It's always packed. I good cruise for me is one when I don't set foot in the lido. I can't understand the attraction to a buffet when you can be served a nice meal.

I have written-in "corned beef hash" on my breakfast menu (the one that you hang on the door) on numerous occasions and never have been disappointed!

Lido on Nieuw Amsterdam has linens on the tables for breakfast?
All the HAL ships do for dinner but I've never seen tablecloths on Lido tables at breakfast on any of the ships.
Am I misunderstanding?

I thought the same thing. I think the poster is referring to the evening although it certainly is not clear from the post.

My partner likes corned beef hash and ordered it for breakfast in the Pinnacle. When it came it was more like a corned beef hash pancake...very strange. He did not care for it at all.

Corned beef hash was available in the MDR on our Eurodam cruise last month. It's on the regular menu so it's always available. They always served the hash with a scoop of salsa, which I've never seen before, but after awhile I found that I enjoyed it and started actively looking for that little bit of salsa. :)

I ordered the corned beef hash without the poached egg as a side dish in the MDR while on the Zaandam in January. One time they served me the regular menu item with the poached egg but all the other times they served it as requested. We found breakfast in the MDR to be a relaxing way to start the day, at least one the days when we awoke early enough to take advantage of it. ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!
I will make a Lido exception when there are rumours of cinnamon ice cream. :)

about the only time we will go to the lido for breakfast is when we have a tour -- dining room and pinnacle are not open that early
and room service - never had a good experience with that

I wholeheartedly agree with this also. I don't think I'll ever understand the allure of serving yourself, fighting the crowds, eating buffet food. Reminds me of my college cafeteria days.

We had a similar experience as your partner did. My DW loves corn beef hash and I detest it (from my army days). So, she ordered it recently in MDR. She did not like it at all, did not finish the meal, and never ordered again.
Too bad, but I suspect that the way they make it is the true way, not the canned way she is use to.

We too prefer the MDR to the Lido, but on our recent NA cruise we found the Lido to be much improved over our two previous HAL cruises.
The Lido can work, even if somewhat crowded, if one scouts ahead for the stations one wants to visit without having to wait too long in lines.
I ordered a room service cheese omelet on our last cruise and wrote in "gruyere" on the order form, and lo and behold I received a tasty omelet with gruyere cheese.
They really do try hard to please.
