We just received our cabin assignment on the 4/15 Insignia sailing - does anyone have any comments on 7088? It's A2, immediately adjacent to A1, on the port side.

Hi Mike,
We are in Cabin 7084 on the July 22nd, 2005 sailing. I believe A-1 and A-2 are all the same size. You will just be a little more aft than our cabin which will put you a little further back from the stairs and elevators. I peeked into some cabins when I was on the Regatta in 2003 and didn't see any differences.

We were ihn 7072. All cabins are same size. One complaint. The shower was miniscule. If you are taller than 5'4" and over 130 lbs. you are in trouble.

OH NO! I'm 6' 5'' and 230 and in 7098. I am in trouble. Do they have showers and a steam room in the workout room?

I measured, the total shower stall height (from floor to ceiling) was 6'6". If you are 6'5", you will barely be able to stand (your hair will rub against the ceiling). Then unless you are really slim, you will rub against the wall or the plastic curtain. I don't know about the public washrooms or spa. May be you can have a "hair dressing" every so often, and take a swim in the pool ?!
P.S. Even if you are on a true boutique ship, namely the Silver Shadow, the shower stall height is also only 6'8". However, it is wider and most people can fit in comfortably. Their regular cabins also have a separate tub (61" long x 22" wide x 14" deep interior dimensions and therefore truly full sized). On Oceania, if you take a PH minisuite, you will have a tub instead of a shower stall. Then you can consider a bath instead of a shower. We haven't tried the tub on Oceania and therefore don't know its size. Hope this helps.

Hmmm - let's see -- I guess I'll either have to (a) lose 100 pounds and shed three inches (in height!!), or (b) forego personal hygiene. Isn't there another option:rolleyes:

We were on the Regatta in Sept and in an A1 cabin. The only difference between the 1 and 2 is the location on the ship - with mid ship being the most desired. My husband is 6'5" and over 220 pounds and did not complain about the shower. We have been on three other cruise lines and in a mini-suite on Princess and no bathroom is large. We thought the bath on Regatta was fine and actually had so much storage we did not even need the shoe bag we usually hang over the door for toilet articles.

We were in 7088 on Insignia in early December, doing the Puerto Caldera to Valparaiso segment of the SA itinerary. The cabin's location was just fine. A few steps down the hallway to the stairs/elevators, and a few more to the laundry facilities. There was no noise from upstairs or hall or adjoining rooms at any time.
Cabin placement was close to middle of the ship and rocking was negligible. In fact, we had hoped for more sailing motion during our cruise. We had very calm waters until the last two or three days, when it picked up a little but not a lot.
Can't think of anything that would displease you about this cabin except that we did have some trouble with the cabin stewardess who seemed to forget that we were the guests aboard ship. We like to have our morning coffee right after waking (generally around 7 am). We would phone room service to ask for coffee and some danish when we woke, she would appear at our door and say that she could not bring it without us filling out one of the breakfast tags and leaving it on the doorknob the night before. I explained to her that it was not possible to use that system since we never knew if we were going to wake at 6 am or 8 am! She refused to budge. So in order to get our coffee, every morning we would call room service (but for some reason she always answered the call), then we would fill out the tag and hand it to her when she knocked at the door, and she would bring us the coffee that we asked for.
We've cruised several times on Radisson and never had this problem before, and it's not like we were ordering coffee outside of normal room service operating times. She simply refused to do it any other way.
Needless to say, for the first time in 17 cruises, we did not leave any additional tip for the room stewardess! She made every morning unpleasant.

Many thanks for the "heads up". Rather unbelievable that a room stewardess would be so intractable - I hope they've replaced her by April 15th! We're really anticipating this cruise - it will be our first on Oceania.

We enjoyed both cruises and intend to sail with them again in the near future.
We were also on the Regatta inaugural cruise. We had also sailed on similar R series ships when they were with Renaissance. Oceania has upgraded them in many ways and the product is really superior to what it was with Ren. I've had some surgeries in the past 6 months that have stopped us from our usual cruising-every-3-months schedule, but hope to be back to that again within 4 or 5 months.
Stewardesses nickname was "Alex", short for something that was pretty unpronouncable. She was no-nonsense military type, and probably didn't belong in a capacity dealing directly with passengers. Hopefully her contract will be over by the time you sail and you'll get someone who is more helpful.
